What is Latitude VMS?

Latitude WMS is a flexible and enterprise-grade warehouse management system aimed at streamlining the operations of distribution centers and warehouses. Electrical, wholesale, and retail distributors have been using the solution to gain complete visibility and serious control over their inventories or stocks, helping them grow sales, enhance customer service, and compete well in the market or industry they belong to.

Furthermore, Latitude WMS automates the process of receiving products or inventories. Users are instantly notified when there are errors or discrepancies associated with the products they are receiving. They can also link received products with supplier barcodes so there is no need to re-label them. Inbound freight charges and bill of lading numbers can be captured and recorded within the solution as well.

To reduce labor costs and ensure that inventories or stocks are placed in the correct bin locations, Latitude WMS permits users to implement four types of put-away methods which are directed, random, system managed random, and operator directed. Users can assign lot numbers to items and track these items later on based on their lot numbers.

Latitude WMS enables warehouse employees to accurately pick inventory items, whether they are doing it for the purpose of fulfilling customer orders, transferring items, responding to production orders, or managing vendor returns. The warehouse management system can generate warehouse performance metrics, allowing warehouse managers to easily evaluate the productivity of their employees, compare the levels of operational efficiency between branches, and gain insights into all warehouse activities.

Overview of Latitude VMS Benefits

Reduce Inventory Turnaround Times Through Streamlined Receiving Procedures

Latitude WMS automates and streamlines key aspects of warehouse operation which include receiving, putting away or storing, and picking items or products. Receiving processes and procedures are very critical because they define inventory turnaround or turnover times. Inventory turnaround time is the time it takes for a company or business to sell or distribute products and replace them. Thus, if there are errors in such procedures, they obviously affect how fast users sell and replace their products.

Spot Product Receipt Errors And Discrepancies

Through the aid of its automated and efficient features, Latitude WMS can cut product receipt times in half without compromising accuracy. Users can immediately verify how many products or items they are expecting to get from their suppliers. When there are errors and discrepancies, they will be able to receive instant alerts. Receiving employees can label a line item quantity with “unreceive” so that vendors or suppliers can correct receipt errors.

Capture Inventory Details

In addition, the solution provides features that make it easy for users to capture and record important information and details related to the products or items they are receiving. These include shelf life, expiration dates,  inbound freight charges, and bill of lading numbers.

Store Items Or Products In Multiple Bin Types And Locations

Latitude VMS offers put-away features or those features that assist users in storing their products or items in the proper bin types or locations. The solution supports the setting up of multiple bin types and locations within its system. In other words, users can store their items in multiple bin types and locations and track those items easily later on.

Apply Different Put-Away Strategies To Improve Efficiency And Reduce Labor Costs

Aside from giving users the ability to store their items in multiple bin types and locations, Latitude VMS enables them to implement several types of put-away strategies so they can improve their efficiency as well as reduce labor costs. One of those put-away strategies is called System Managed Random. In this method, the solution randomly selects bin locations and assign items to those locations. However, it takes into account item velocity.

Item velocity defines the length of time that an item stays in the warehouse or shelf as an inventory before it is sold to customers. Another type of put-away strategy is Operator Directed. Here, users themselves have the freedom to specify which bin locations the items will be assigned to and stored in, providing them with more flexibility.

Efficient And Error-Free Picking

Latitude VMS also includes a picking system that helps employees accurately and efficiently pick products and items from their inventory to process customer orders, handle inventory movements or transfers, manage production orders, or return items to suppliers or vendors. Picking procedures within Latitude VMS can be done in various ways such as by route, zone, batch order, batch-within-zone, lot, or FiFO or first-in first-out.

Because the solution has the ability to capture lot numbers and serial numbers, users are ensured that they are able to pick the proper raw materials for kits and assemblies as well as deliver safe and valuable products to their customers.

Cycle Counting

In Latitude VMS, cycle counting is made possible. In general, cycle counting is a type of inventory auditing method wherein a subset of an inventory is counted on a specified date. This is different from the traditional physical inventory wherein the entire inventory of the warehouse is being counted which typically leads to disruptions in the operations of the business. With Latitude VMS, users will be able to conduct both on-the-spot or scheduled cycle counts. Through the aid of a handheld scanner, they can quickly input the quantities of items within a bin location. In case there are discrepancies, they can immediately specify the correct amounts or quantities which are automatically updated on the system.

Cycle counting in Latitude VMS is also integrated with its picking system. This means as employees pick items and process orders, the solution immediately updates bin quantities. As a result, when the quantities fall below the threshold, users are notified quickly. Cycle counting enables companies and business to avoid costly year-end inventories and improve the productivity of their employees, as they no longer have to conduct full inventory counts during the week which prevent their employees from doing more important tasks.

Access Warehouse Performance Metrics And Data

A good warehouse management system must able to produce data and metrics so users can gain insights into the performance and productivity of their warehouse and employees, see areas of improvement, and make the right decisions. With Latitude VMS, users can come up with reports and charts that provide metrics and information related to all the activities being performed within their warehouse. This way, they will be able to monitor how productive and efficient each employee they have. They can also assess the performance of each branch and compare it with other branches. Latitude VMS permits them to access warehouse performance metrics and data any time they want from any location.
