PROS & CONS

What are the best aspects of this product?

My job requires me to handle a large amount of photos that are then passed on to other departments like marketing and public relations. ACDSee has been a great tool in keeping things organized, because tagging and categorizing is so easy to do. If other department need a specific photo, I can just look through the tags to find the photo that they need.

What aspects are problematic or could work better?

I think they could provide better tutorials on how to best use tags, as I do get a little confused on which one is better to use -- labels, categories, or keywords.

What specific problems in your company were solved by this product?

One problem I've encountered with ACDSee is that I have a lot of orphan files in it, with a number of images showing up multiple times. I've looked it up online and it seems this is caused by me working off a network drive. Apparently, ACDSee is unable to determine if a file is an orphan or not since I only delete, move, or rename on the network drive and not on ACDSee. I've started doing all of these deletions, moving, and renaming on ACDSee to resolve this. However, my Photos view still ends up being bombarded with a huge amount of duplicate files. That said, I've really benefitted a lot from how sorting and organizing has become a quicker process. I can easily tag by subject, type, or a number of other things. The feature for facial recognition has also been a great help. Another thing that has helped me out is the Photos View. The fact that I can quickly scan through images rather than going through multiple folders has saved me a lot of time.
