What are the best aspects of this product?

It is designed to reformat how a text looks like. The layout of the text or its appearance can be manipulated the way you like it to appear. This is what I liked most about this tool. It is highly flexible when you want to organize or manipulate the details of your text. You can change the text boxes to appear the way you want and organize them differently within a page. All this is possible with InDesign and since I deal with texts more than anything else, it is bliss. When you compare with other tools that offer similar solutions such as Photoshop or Illustrator, InDesign is in layout design. It also has reliable tools that allow you to change or edit the size of the document in the product with ease.

What aspects are problematic or could work better?

It is difficult to learn how this tool works. There is a learning curve, which is real and thus the need to undergo training before you can fully implement this tool for text editing and formatting. When you compare with other tools, InDesign is not that intuitive which adds to how difficult it is to get around its features. Formatting for books, magazines and brochures is by far a daunting task for new users. Luckily, there are online training resources that can help you catch up and learn how to format using this product. All in all, one you get there, it provides a great experience in terms of formatting.

What specific problems in your company were solved by this product?

We have been able to leave behind the old and heavy documents we were formatting before we could implement InDesign. With this tool, the formatting is clear for brochures and pamphlets. We no longer have to use MS Word to get the job done. This tool offers a more flexible and reliable platform and tools that equip us with the right knowledge and features to pull it off. Our design materials are better, colorful and attractive which is a plus on our part. Also, we can do the design on our own instead of outsourcing externally, which saves the time and money.
