Autodesk 3ds Max Review

PROS: This is great solution for designers, animators and architects. It offers lot of opportunities and ways to achieve your goals. There are lot of shortcuts which is great thing for professionals, and for beginners there are tutorials, icons and short videos that explain how this software works. I like that it has unique ways of rendering, animating, modeling and texturing and it offers support for third party plugins.

CONS: It is buggy and it crashes from time to time and there are no huge changes into the new versions just few features. Also, the old version doesn’t recognize files saved on new version.

PROS: I especially like the product’s interface because it is clear and user friendly. You can use plugins and it works great with 3rd party software such as V-ray and others. Also, I like that modeling methodology is straightforward. IN fact, this is perfect solution for architectural visualizatons.

CONS: When it comes to creating characters into 3Ds max is not as that simple because it limits creativity. Also, it is buggy and it lacks parametric modeling features. In addition, the integrating REVIT models into 3Ds max can be cumbersome because it makes difficult to connect the files and keep the link for long period of time. Furthermore, the autosave features freezes the program for 10 minutes.

PROS: 3DS Max does everything you can ever imagine within 3D realm. I’m using this product for more than 7 years and thanks to this tool I’m an expert in modeling anything I can think of. It allows me to handle scenes with more than 50 million polygons and there is always room when it comes to renderers. The good thing is that this software offers lot of choices for basic renderer to programs like Corona and V-ray.

CONS: It has minor issue or bug as you will within the settings tab and when adjusting the light cache when the tab is pressed the entire program freezes. Unfortunately, I have experienced this kind of issue often, when Max crashes.

PROS: The program is flexible and it offers huge potential. It allows us to make almost everything from images to live-videos. There are lot of tutorials online, especially their official ones. I like that they constantly update the program and the team does everything to satisfied their customer’s needs. There is always room for improvements and they are on the right path.

CONS: In my opinion, the UI is not sensible, not comfortable. Also, I don’t like its built-in render engines so I have to purchase other render engines like V-ray or Corona Renderer.

PROS: 3Ds Max offers great set of tools and features, its UI is intuitive and clear. You won’t have any troubles if you are familiar with Autocad already. The product is stable and it works perfectly without crashing. It has great built-in tools and the good thing is that you can always expand them with Pletora of free or commercial add-ons. I like that there is internal scripting language and this means that you can even write your own tools, which is great thing. Furthermore, if you are an architect then this software is perfect solution for your career. We can easily modify materials and apply them with its built-in texturing options.

In addition, there are features that no one uses so It would be great if we could delete them from the program so it can run faster. It includes using strong plugins and unmatched 3rd party rendering support like Mental Ray, V- Ray and others. The other wonderful thing about this software is the ability to create own modifiers, utilities and geometric objects.
