What are the best aspects of this product?

The ability to track and solve problems last minute was a decisive criterion when choosing an APM tool, and I'm frankly glad we narrowed the search to Datadog. The thing with Datadog is that the team behind it never stops adding value, and their graphs and alerts are constantly upgrading to adapt to the dynamics of your workline. You're not supposed to do additional entries, as the system relies on datacentres, hostnames, system types and all similar aggregating counts and sources you have on disposal.

What aspects are problematic or could work better?

You need to have your apps instrumented with StatsD, otherwise there will be a lot of catch-up work for you.

What specific problems in your company were solved by this product?

Datadog is nothing like traditional data systems, which deal only with specific services and metrics, and where various teams are not able to correlate and to use information outside their direct competence. Datadog pushed these boundaries to enhance cooperation, and that made live easier for all of us.
