Good–but not the best.

What are the best aspects of this product?

One of the main things that I love about this program is that it respects the environment of the programs with which our clients use. This makes working together--including the editing and approval phases--run much more smoothly. Just about anyone can use this tool too, and at any program they wish to open documents in.

What aspects are problematic or could work better?

Just like any solution, there is a bit of a learning curve that one has to go through to be able to fully utilize this tool. If I were to share my personal preferences as well, I think that the layout looks a bit out-dated. But where it lacks in aesthetic value, it does make up in robustness. I find it important to note that there are some functionalities in Documentum’s toolbox that don’t seem to work. I think that there are other programs out there that are 1) cheaper and 2) more useful.

What specific problems in your company were solved by this product?

There is a plethora of functions that one can do using Documentum. For one, we’ve been able to use it to track the lifecycle of our products. We have been using this to organize and keep track of all of our documents and other digital files too. Protecting our documents using Documentum has not been an issue as well.
