We use ArcGIS for mapping purposes and it gets the job done even though the system needs to be updated.

What are the best aspects of this product?

We highly rely on maps to determine the exact geographical locations and compile essential data that are meant for analyzing and reporting. As geologists, we consider ourselves lucky to be allowed to create maps from scratch and make changes as the needs arise. ArcGIS is the ideal software in the market that can provide us with all the resources that we need to become more productive. It also gives us the chance to work with 2D shapes and designs that are very useful in creating visual reports that are made accessible to all employees.

What aspects are problematic or could work better?

You need to be very tech-savvy if you want to enjoy using ArcGIS. Since I don't consider myself an expert in mapping, I have to admit experiencing a degree of difficulty when using this app. The interface needs a lot of improvement in terms of visual appeal, plus they should simplify their options to make the program more user friendly.

What specific problems in your company were solved by this product?

All staff members are being trained to create different types of maps that can be used to give us better visualization of what's really going on beneath the surface. Mapping helps us analyze soil quality, determine faultlines, extract minerals, and look for other sources of energy.
