A really big help for our company!

What are the best aspects of this product?

CityEngine is every architect’s dream partner. It is intuitive and the dashboard can be easily customized to fit the user’s preferences. Through it, one can easily set up their designs and then render them in 3D so that clients can get a better idea and feel of how space will be developed. The layers, textures, colors are all very impressive. I think that this is all thanks to how advanced the CGA feature is here. I’ve also been able to experiment with different versions of my projects. The exporting and importing of data is no issue at all too.

What aspects are problematic or could work better?

The design tool that I am currently using isn’t supported by CityEngine yet. For now, they only offer Collada, which isn’t exactly the best option for me. While we’re on the topic of design, I don’t like how all of my designs still need to go through photoshop just to have images and layers render properly on the program.

What specific problems in your company were solved by this product?

Ever since we discovered CityEngine, we’ve been using this in many ways. We’ve come to fully explore its functionalities and it has become our go-to tool for designing and visually representing our designs. Through it, we have managed to secure clients and, eventually, earn an income from it. To give you a brief idea of just how useful CityEngine has been to us, here’s an example of a project that we have successfully implemented. A large corporation has been looking to build its headquarters here in our city. A lot of proposals has been sent to it, with one even suggesting that they build it in front of a lake. However, it was eventually determined that this was not the best course of action to take. Because the city was determined to have this corporation build here, they sent out a call for proposals. Eventually, they came across our firm. Through CityEngine, we have been able to present the whole package--the sketches of the proposal, visual presentations, 3D models, and others. Needless to say, the large corporation was impressed and they eventually hired us to do the job for them.
