What are the best aspects of this product?

CA Flowdock solves the problem of the mess of simultaneous messages. It's possible to see only the messages related to a given point. It also has fantastic integration with GitHub and Jenkins, and a really great SDK for writing your own extensions.

What aspects are problematic or could work better?

They have done nothing to solve the proliferation of flows (Hipchat equivalent: rooms) and flows cannot actually be deleted, just disabled (which adds to organizational cruft on any admin page). Also, there's no way to re-assign a message to a context once you've sent it.

What specific problems in your company were solved by this product?

What started as a means for distributed team collaboration became a one-stop shop for all team news, with so much efficiency gained when you're not forced to context-switch over and over just to follow a conversation in a chat room.
