What are the best aspects of this product?

Cognos is a one-stop-shop platform in providing you all the data-related tasks you need. It strategically leverages machine-learning, self-service, and enterprise reporting. I'm really impressed that unlike other BI platforms, Cognos can deliver multiple tasks: data extraction, charting, natural language, etc.

What aspects are problematic or could work better?

It's nearly impossible to migrate and serve a large number of users without facing great difficulties. Also, the new versions are quite clunky and often don't run smoothly.

What specific problems in your company were solved by this product?

Prompt delivery of data; scheduled delivery; ready-made report templates for not-so-techy bosses; fun-to-customize dashboards; and thorough exploration of data relationships are some of the fave features of Cognos.
