What are the best aspects of this product?
In own personal opinion, Visual Studio happens to be a top-of-the-line IDE. It's the latest in C#, .NET, and Visual Basic development for the Windows OS. Some versions are free while others come with an MSDN subscription. These days there are variants that run on both Mac OS and Linux. Microsoft is doing so much today that also includes the ability to run on products that don't run Microsoft.
What aspects are problematic or could work better?
It's a bit costly if a portion of your business involves only Windows development. From my perspective, other tools are available for web development if you happen to not be utilizing .NET. The Team Foundation Version is getting a bad reputation for not living up to its ability as the rest seen within Visual Studio.
What specific problems in your company were solved by this product?
C# is great for general purpose language. We're using Visual Studio in developing new software within C#. We're also using it in supportng legacy C#, legacy ASP, and ASP.NET. Visual Studio happens to be highly effective in such scenarios. As a matter of fact, our team members are also using it in developing web pages.
