NetSuite ERP’s Inventory Management helps in keeping you on top of your inventory, especially in multiple locations. With various tools native to NetSuite ERP, its Inventory Management functionality allows you to track the number of resources in different locations and ensure that you have enough amount of supplies in stock to meet order demands, as well as supplies needed within the organization.
As a key module to what is labeled a top financial management solution software used by progressively growing mid-sized and large businesses around the world, NetSuite’s Inventory Management focuses on streamlining your supply chain along with your other financial management operations. Its comprehensive and automated solutions cover front- to back-office processes from planning your supply chain to keeping a detailed and organized record of every item in your warehouses regardless of number and location.
Planning your supply chain is easier with NetSuite’s advanced inventory management and demand planning strategies, both of which are designed to help you make data-driven decisions and ensure that there is a balance between supply and demand.
You can also calculate demand and make predictions by using NetSuite’s Demand Planning module, which analyzes historical data and generates forecasts based on weekly or monthly records. You can choose how to forecast demand based on order trends using moving average, linear regression, or seasonal average calculations. Once demand planning is set, the process of supply planning starts and you can set the method you would like to use to determine the volume of orders based on purchase, work, and transfer orders in the record.
On top of automated supply and demand planning, you can also customize your warehouses’ parameters to ensure that your inventory continues to meet both external and internal demands.
Show MoreNetSuite’s Inventory Management module comes with a number of advantages that help in inventory optimization, giving you visibility of your supply chain, as well as keeping accurate records necessary for financial reports:
Inventory Replenishment
Good inventory management involves keeping up to date with the amount of inventory on a regular basis. While this can be tedious and even grueling work, NetSuite offers tools that give you visibility of every inventory within the organization, and automatically calculate key factors and settings such as preferred stocking levels, lead-times and re-orders points, and even with suggestions relevant to the items in the list.
Cycle Counting
NetSuite’s Inventory Counting plays an important role in keeping your inventory count organized by automatically separating supplies in different categories, such as transaction values, volumes, etc. This feature also includes keeping an accurate record of inventory counts, as well as reminders of when items should be counted.
Inventory Tracking
With NetSuite’s inventory management feature, you can keep track of your product’s life cycle at every stage and all information relevant to each, including transactions. With complete visibility and control of inventory, you can use this feature in lot tracking, serial tracking, and enforcing total traceability of the items in your inventory.
Warehouse Management
NetSuite is equipped with unique capabilities that enable you to track inventory in more than one location. One way of effectively utilizing this feature is by customizing your inventory tracking. You can define inventory locations first, then break each down into bins or containers, and each bin down to the type of item stored in it.
Show MoreKnowing that businesses have special business-related requirements, it is rational that they avoid purchasing a one-size-fits-all, ideal solution. Still, it would be hard to come across such a software solution even among widely used software solutions. The rational step to undertake should be to shortlist the varied vital functions which necessitate careful thought such as crucial features, plans, skill capability of staff members, organizational size, etc. Thereafter, you should perform the research comprehensively. Go over some of these NetSuite ERP evaluations and explore each of the solutions in your shortlist more closely. Such detailed research ensures you take out ill-fitting apps and pay for the system that has all the benefits your company requires to achieve growth.
Position of NetSuite ERP in our main categories:
Companies have unique needs and requirements and no software solution can be just right in such a situation. It is pointless to try to find an ideal off-the-shelf software system that meets all your business wants. The smart thing to do would be to customize the system for your specific needs, staff member skill levels, finances, and other aspects. For these reasons, do not hasten and pay for well-publicized popular applications. Though these may be widely used, they may not be the perfect fit for your particular wants. Do your research, check out each short-listed application in detail, read a few NetSuite ERP Inventory Management Software reviews, call the maker for explanations, and finally select the app that presents what you want.

PROS: I've witnessed this ERP solution grow over the years, and it's fascinating to watch NetSuite launch as a start-up and emerge as the most widely-used tool in the market. For me, this is the best ERP app in the market and nothing can compare to it. It manages to combine ease with full functionalities. It does not slack off when it comes to training and making sure that their users are up to par with industry standards as well. It is very scalable and offers a degree of flexibility to its users. Each of its modules is properly vetted and can be easily merged with other modules for reporting purposes. This is the perfect solution for multinational companies that need to consolidate their data every now and then. Overall, NetSuite automates and oversees all of our operations--from scheduling billings to recording transactions to budgeting. I've used a fair share of business apps similar to this one, but this is by far the best out of the rest.
CONS: The original NetSuite standard seems to have declined ever since it has been acquired by Oracle. Their customer reps are no longer as attentive and knowledgeable. They even went as far as to give us false information regarding our contract. We were forced to sign an extension of our contract, and we have yet to receive the full reports from such time. I don't know what kind of operation Oracle is pulling, but it doesn't seem to be very honest to me.

PROS: NetSuite doesn't just come with a full set of tools for ERP, but it offers information on some of the best practices of longstanding NetSuite users too. We've heard really good reviews about NetSuite, and we're impressed with the longevity of its users. These are mainly the reasons why we've decided to give this solution a go. That, plus the 360 view is quite impressive as well.
CONS: I don't think I've encountered anything that their customer service reps haven't been able to solve. A word of advice to the new user: it's worth paying for the extra fee to be prioritized in the CSR lineup. We've been able to enjoy quality service this way.

PROS: I love how customizable NetSuite is. It has a straightforward design that allows users to easily run searches and track KPIs. Not to mention, the help docs are pretty comprehensive. I am particularly fond of the Performance Management tool as well.
CONS: There are so many aspects of NetSuite that I feel strongly about. Let me start with its support management. Their reps are not knowledgeable, and what's worse is that they are apathetic to our needs. They obviously don't take the time to get to know their customers. There's the analytics feature that needs a lot of work too. To be honest, I feel like I can generate better reports by starting from scratch with Microsoft tools. There aren't enough updates on the APM bundles as well, plus we can't even reprint our lists for a second time. It's generally a frustrating environment to work in. Users can't communicate via this platform as well. I wish that they would roll out a chat feature to help us out a bit. The Case Management feature does not make it easy to manage more than one profile at a time, a constant source of headache for me. There is the matter of NetSuite being unreliable when it comes to releasing dates for new updates as well. And don't even get me started on the mobile app. It seems like this was rolled out just for the sake of offering an app. Overall, I strongly feel that if NetSuite would just grant users more flexibility, most of these issues would just solve themselves out. I'm hoping that this would be the case with the migration to OCI though. Lately, we've been getting timeout errors too. We've already filed a ticket to resolve this, but as per usual, customer support continues to be unresponsive to our requests.
Easy to use and good for multi-currency processes.

PROS: One of NetSuite's main selling points is its easy-to-use interface. Plus, it's accessible on cloud too, making it possible for us to make updates on our devices even when we're out on the field. It has developed its sheet balancing feature down to an art. And while it takes some time to fully understand the system, once you have a firm grasp on its principles, generating reports becomes a walk in the park.
CONS: The system itself can be quite laggy. There are certain tasks that slow to a crawl, for example, editing orders and billings. It's almost impossible to just edit one line from a category too. If you want to make changes, then you need to start from square 1. This is particularly frustrating when I want to generate an intercompany sales order.
It offers a plethora of tools that we find useful.

PROS: NetSuite is more than just a centralized location for all of our ERP needs. It makes each member of my team more accountable too. With NetSuite, I can easily track who's in charge of projects and where each one is on the timeline. It lets me know who to approach in case of any project-specific issue as well.
CONS: I don't particularly like how user-dependent this tool is during the setup stages. The first few steps have to be done by someone meticulous enough to cover all bases--otherwise, the solution won't be able to function to its full capacity. There are a handful of scripts simultaneously running in the background too. These often cause the system to crash.

PROS: This solution is equipped with a comprehensive set of basic features. The documentation is good and there are enough APIs and integrations. Plus, most of the bugs and possible issues have all been ironed out in its previous versions. It's a good enough tool that can be made even better by the team that uses it.
CONS: I think that NetSuite needs to set its priorities straight. They take their time to roll out new features that lack certain functions. On the other hand, they've left the site builder platform to obsolescence. If you ask me, the latter is where they should concentrate their efforts on because of the sheer number of users who depend on it. There's the suitecommerce advanced that obviously caters bigger companies too, but is being relentlessly forced upon smaller companies like mine. In terms of product complexity and documentation, I'd probably be better of using some other e-commerce platform such as Magento.

PROS: Our field is quite unique to other businesses, and we're glad that NetSuite is flexible enough to cater to our needs. We've successfully customized our dashboard for our public organization, and it's running smoothly so far.
CONS: NetSuite may have granted us ample customization freedom, but not all of its segments work properly. For example, we cannot generate reports per custom segment, making it impossible for us to gather concrete data that we can present to our higher-ups. We've already escalated this issue to NetSuite, and we're still waiting for a resolution. Another issue with NetSuite is that it maintains a linear management perspective. It does not allow users to integrate with the dashboard of other departments. This is quite the issue because a lot of us wear multiple hats in the organization. NetSuite does not take initiative to redirect tasks assigned to those who are out-of-office too. Instead, it creates a backlog that clogs the pipeline and stalls our progress. There isn't enough training on analytics too. Which leads me to circle back to reports and how it lacks in functionalities. When it comes to this aspect, we're quite limited because NetSuite can't even grant us the capability to show a comparison between the final results versus our initial projected results.
Great storage for customer information.

PROS: What's great about NetSuite is that it keeps a record of all past exchanges with our customers. This means that any of our reps can simply build upon the notes of the previous member assigned to that lead. This is particularly useful when closing sales and upselling our products. The search feature makes it easy for me to filter certain customers that I would like to contact too.
CONS: The system sometimes sends duplicate emails to our leads. This isn't much of a big deal to me, but it can be cumbersome to customers. There are intermittent downtimes too, but these are few and far between. NetSuite does a good job of sending out downtime notices to their users though.
Hands down the best ERP solution offered in the market.

PROS: NetSuite has been around long enough for it to develop a smooth and efficient system. It covers all the basic functionalities that we need for our business, from inventory management all the way to sales analytics.
CONS: NetSuite is constantly increasing their prices--soon enough, we might not be able to afford it anymore. Its data archiving feature is unnecessarily expensive despite all of its shortcomings too. This solution makes it practically impossible to switch to other solutions. Plus their upgrades seem to always have bugs. It would be nice if they vetted these properly before rolling them out. As the cherry on top, NetSuite's customer support could afford to be more attentive, or consistently reachable at the very least.
The ERP support is good enough.

PROS: I think it's great how NetSuite caters to a variety of industries and business sizes. No matter which category you may fall under, this solution can provide you with a useful set of tools for your needs. As a NetSuite admin for my team, I like how I can easily change certain fields to work orders. Whenever I run across any issues, I make sure to check SuiteAnswers first. This is basically a comprehensive FAQ section with a plethora of issues solved there. I find it easy to import tasks and generate reports from NetSuite as well.
CONS: NetSuite works best under its original setup. As we strived to customize the program, the more it introduced bugs and other issues. It's difficult to make the most out of the accounting and project management features as well. The search feature, as well as the timesheet report, can be frustrating to use. Our agents cannot bill our clients directly, and we can't issue a T&M receipt in advance too. Plus, I don't find the mobile app particularly useful. Despite all of this, I still think it's great that NetSuite maintains a level of QA within its system, making sure to call out erroneous computations and other possible issues. Still, I think that their customer reps should be more knowledgeable on NetSuite nuances so they can provide better support to us users.
A tool that is both customizable and scalable.

PROS: I think that NetSuite offers top-notch reporting support. We can easily customize these and filter our data according to what we find necessary. Data presentation is definitely NetSuite's strongest feature.
CONS: Let's start with the mobile app--it's practically useless, especially for tracking and inputting expenses. There is a lot to be desired when it comes to the Project Management feature as well. WIP processing from the balance sheet to the P&L is a manual and laborious process for us too. I wish that NetSuite can find a way to automate this for us. There's also the issue of the Revenue Recognition setup. It works fine now, but we had a hard time setting it up. Lastly, I wish that NetSuite would offer more extensive training. They're quite behind on this front, and they better keep up with their competitors.
These are all my impressions so far. . .

PROS: We use NetSuite mostly for its usability and simple interface and modules. Our account is primarily built on a general ledger, and we can simply build on this as needed. The customer support team has been attentive to our needs, and they offer great support all the time too.
CONS: The process of importing data is pretty much a free for all landscape. We've had to figure this out by ourselves. There are a lot of unnecessary steps to take to implement multi-books too. There are also some parts of the dashboard can be difficult to navigate. And lastly, the NetSuite Prof Services isn't always reachable.
