Highly useful and time-saving tool

What are the best aspects of this product?

Hyperion is great tool for planning and reporting, it has simple solution for finance teams so they can easily track company’s financial metrics. Data entry is easy and our financial team can track budgets, forecasts, actuals, commitments and many other processes within the company. Data is store into database Essbase. Smart View, Excel-based add-ins and Planning helps to create reports quickly and easily. Smart View has ad-hoc capabilities for requesting data out of Planning. The good thing is that we can generate all kinds of reports based on data from Planning including sales, capital expenditures, Budget and etc. You can even create customized reports so you can deliver to the users.

What aspects are problematic or could work better?

It would be great if they could improve performance enhancements in next version. Scrolling and searching through dimensions can be slow. I have received notification that there are improvements in 11.1.2.4 version but I haven’t tried yet. Also, I have found some limitations with the multi-dimensional database when pulling metadata.

What specific problems in your company were solved by this product?

Budgeting, Forecasting and reporting take large amount of time and resources and that’s why we use the reporting software that would help us to reduce the time. Oracle allows our users to manage their accounts, products, locations and every other data via Planning feature. We often use the forecast and budget versions when pulling reports out. With Planning feature, data entry, data management and data analysis is simple and easy. This software saves us time, money and resources.
