What are the best aspects of this product?
There are a number of things I favor with Outsystems. Their pre-installed manager; feedback manager; forum and forge community; and customer support has been excellent. But what I love most is the quickness of delivering a product to each customer. It's nothing short of amazing. My colleague and I were able to deliver functional application to our client in a couple days!
What aspects are problematic or could work better?
There are certain things that I don't favor with Outsystems. The biggest gripe I had with it is that I had to do everything their way. The platform offers plenty of freedom and ability to get into every nook and cranny of your application. But there have been instances where I would've done things in a certain manner. It's not really a bad thing to do it their way though.
What specific problems in your company were solved by this product?
A majority of my work involves dealing with suppliers for fiber optic cables in Iceland. The biggest thing we've ever done was revolutionizing how people do things in the field. Back then, orders had to be carried out by means of filling up a form on paper, which later involved entering them in a PC after workers make it back to their station. Nowadays, a majority of their field workers have Android-based tablets that make it easy for them to delegate and receive orders. This led to a huge reduction of complaints and paperwork.
