What are the best aspects of this product?

The program is straightforward and user-friendly. It’s easy to determine which is what and learn how each function works. Also, I like the ability to record, edit, and upload videos of any file size. On top of that, the program works on different devices so we can choose which gadget to use to access the tool and view both the live and recorded videos. It’s convenient, especially for students. They only need a website browser and internet connection.

What aspects are problematic or could work better?

The program only offers an automatic captioning capability and I find it a bit lacking. I wish they add an ability to create the captions for all our videos ourselves. Also, it would be great if they allow us to integrate the system with our VLE grade book. It would make it easier for the students to submit their works and for teachers to give grades.

What specific problems in your company were solved by this product?

We tried using the platform for live streaming so we can also give our students a chance to participate and interact with the presenter. Unfortunately, the result isn’t as good as we expected. It’s challenging to present information and answer the student’s question at the same time. However, the platform did a great job when it comes to video recording and editing. More and more teachers are using the tool to record their lectures, assignment briefs, or any other information they need to present to the class. Also, the videos have helped students a lot. They are able to watch the lectures as much as they need to or if they still have questions, forgot something, needs clarifications, and many more. Panopto, in general, is a very useful tool that makes learning and teaching today more effective.
