Elements is a feature-rich application but it remains user-friendly, which is why I like to use it. Even a child can learn how to manipulate photos using it and have their imagination run. For total beginners looking to make the most out of it, there are tutorials and tips online from the community. It has both a free and a paid version. But the latter is not as steep as Photoshop CC itself, making it a great alternative.

What aspects are problematic or could work better?

Since Elements is a budget version of Photoshop and Illustrator, it is lacking in advanced editing and formatting tools. You will not be able to find 3D modeling, logo embedding, glyphs, and rasterizing tools here. If you need those things, it is better to stick with Photoshop or Illustrator.

Elements is a quick-fix for image editing projects. It is very useful if you just want to crop, highlight, improve images and to create slideshows.
