What are the best aspects of this product?
I am a fan of the administration side of Shopify, I like how they've structured it, and how they've organzied all options to make them visible and usable. Takes minutes to digest the concept, and that's in fact the only step to make before placing a product on sale. I know this because I'm not running my own store, but designing templates for customers. I use Liquid for the templates and the themes, even if I started with Timber, all of them were in any case easy and productive. The Desktop Theme Editor streamlined the procedure even more.
What aspects are problematic or could work better?
Shopify has amazing documentation, but an uncommon one, which is why I'd suggest them to introduce more common codes and solutions like JS. Another thing that can be changed are Product Options, since flexibility doesn't apply there as much as in other cases. To give you an example, I sometimes stuggle to relate a product to its image because the names don't match, or even to link the product to a specific color schemes. True, you see, even Shopify has its moments.
What specific problems in your company were solved by this product?
See, running an e-commerce business nowadays is the most profitable way to sell at all, but the tricky part is assuming responsibility. That's the biggest benefit you can get from Shopify-it will guide and manage the process for you, and you won't have to worry about hosting and security. That was perfect for me and my customers, that's why we are still using it. The Shopify team thought of sales as a science, and they really know how an e-store should look and function.
