What are the best aspects of this product?
The simplicity in which you can create 3D and editing it is one of the many wonderful things with SketchUp. Once you come up with a basic drafted plan in Autocad, the massing model can successfully be made within minutes. I've been utilizing SketchUp for urban planning and building scale. It gave me precise output in terms of quality.
What aspects are problematic or could work better?
Two things I hate with SketchUp. One is not having the ability to edit and the poly-lines manipulation suck (a lot simpler to do via AutoCAD). Poly-lines with curves has a tendency to be in segments. This could be problematic it as the process of selection becomes tedious from time to time which could lead you to miss out on some segments.
What specific problems in your company were solved by this product?
Before discovering SketchUp, I was using 3Ds Max and AutoCAD 3D. While both platforms are considered as high-end products, the time it takes is way longer than that of SketchUP. Creating and fiddling with conceptual 3D models are simpler with SketchUp. You don't need to dab into any high-end desktop PC or laptop just to make things happen.
