PROS & CONS

What are the best aspects of this product?

We now get the documents we want. Using MS Office (we mostly use Word) as the template designer we are creating stunning documents with exactly the format & layout we want. Windward makes it incredibly easy to change complex design, layouts, and more.

And with the smart document logic it's easy to put our business logic right in the template. With this we can hide or show data based on specific conditions with the logic right in the template.

Because templates are designed in Office, our users already know how to design the templates they need. And because that is so easy, most template design work has been turned over to the business users. Not all, we still need to help at times, but most of it. This also means when someone needs a new report, they can create it immediately – no more waiting for someone in dev to do it.
I also love that there’s no longer any code that has to be written for a template. And I was able to embed Windward into our application in about 15 minutes.

What aspects are problematic or could work better?

I wish it was part of a document processing system. Windward makes template creation so easy – but that’s it. I wish it then could be used to route the documents with a robust workflow system.

That's it, Windward is a well thought out and implemented product.

What features/services would you like to see in future versions of this product?

A document processing system.

What specific problems in your company were solved by this product?

Instead of having a development team designing templates for the company and customers, each user can create their own templates as needed. Individuals now create the templates exactly to their requirements. This is a big savings, not just in lower cost but also faster turn-around.

This has saved a lot of time and resources.

And we now get the documents we want – exactly as each designer wants them.
