What are the best aspects of this product?
Before I proceed, I want to disclose my relationship to Zoho Books. I am a Certified Advisor. However, my unbiased opinion is backed up by my certifications with Quickbooks, Xero, Freshbooks and an advisor for Wave. They are all great products and what sets Zoho Books apart from the others is the integration to over 40 applications within the Zoho family of applications. I have experienced enterprise ERP's and Zoho is an ERP for SMB's. Customization and automation turns any Zoho application including Zoho Books into an enterprise solution.
What aspects are problematic or could work better?
No solution on the market is perfect and aspects any software can be problematic if it does not do what you need it to do which can be an endless amount of tasks. It is more important to me that there is a workaround or another way to do the complex process I need it to solve. It would not be fair for me to say anything negative about any of the solutions above.
What features/services would you like to see in future versions of this product?
Here is where the cost/benefit relationship comes into play. If I want to see Zoho Books do everything SAP FICO does, it will be priced out of the market. The one thing I would like to see is Payroll along with a wide offering of benefits for SMB's. That will bring tremendous value to the total suite of applications especially that Zoho does recruiting, onboarding, attendance management, time tracking and appraisals very well. The other thing that is needed is more control over the processing of transactions to prior periods. Financial statements become unreliable when a subsequent transaction can slip by change prior results. This is very important: I would also like to see the following as it relates to uploading transactions: 1. Make it simpler and make all upload templates match up to the actual field layouts. 2. Provide a validation process to ensure accuracy and a review process to get another set of eyes on it. 3. Include a process to automate the upload process directly from Zoho Sheets. This provides endless possibilities to produce complex financial reporting and advanced analytics.
