What are the best aspects of this product?

I have been with Hostwinds for a year now. I began with their shared SSD hosting package, then upgraded to VPS (speed connection became much faster). If you are not the least knowledgeable person in the world about web hosting and do need to call support at least one in a daily basis then Hostwinds is really the hosting provider for you. I am a an experienced web user and have tried literally dozens of web companies before but none with such high standards.

What aspects are problematic or could work better?

You will make right choice if you decide host your site with them.
