What are the best aspects of this product?
Accelo has helped our firm standardize our workflow on tax work through its project feature or retainer custom workflows. It has also automated some tasks that would have usually required a manual follow up. It provided us a better client communication via a self-help portal that can provide file/current engagement viiews. The wonderful integration with Office 365 must be noted as well.
What aspects are problematic or could work better?
Syncing with QuickBooks desktop and online works but is not a true bi-directional sync for customer information and invoice changes. However, it seems to be based on a limitation from an Intuit API perspective, so here's hoping true bi-direction sync will be possible in the future for customer information and invoices. While Office 365 works great with Accelo, Outlook Tasks are another story. Though this may be an issue on Outlook"s API.
What specific problems in your company were solved by this product?
It effectively addressed the problem of bottleneck in open items and questions to complete tax work. By utilizing custom retainer fields and work flow progressions, we have been able to send automated email reminders to clients every weekso they get to follow up quicker. It has also helped us develop a simple email trigger that has improved client retention. It improved overall work quality by forcing the tax professionals to follow a preset yet flexible workflow that communicates with the client every step of the way.
