What are the best aspects of this product?
I like the usability of Bamboo, and the simple design that makes ESS so simple for our employees. I also LOVE the simplicity of the app. there's an app for everything these days, and so often they are not useful. Our employees are always using their phones, and the ability for them to check their vacation balances at home or on-the-go is amazing.
What aspects are problematic or could work better?
Customizability of the reports is good, but for specific acocunting purposes, I wish there was a bt more complexity in some of the headcount reports. Also, two-tiered approval or multi-tier email notifications (direct manager and senior manager notifications of anniversary dates for example) would be a hugely useful advantage.
What specific problems in your company were solved by this product?
There are many simplified processes now as a result of Bamboo HR. The biggest solution was to our time-off request process was a 6-step process previously (email request to manager, manager reply, forward email approval to HR, update the "vacations" calendar, submit official form to HR, HR tracks manually in spreadsheet). This has changed to a two-step process - request and approve. I can't stress how much simpler this makes everything for everyone.
In addition - we are growing quickly and it's a huge challenge for new employees to get acquainted with everyone. Bamboo acts as a mini social network where everyone can look up the names of faces around them in the office. This is hugely helpful.
