What is BricsCAD?

BricsCAD is an all-in-one computer-aided design (CAD) software that combines 3D modeling and 2D CAD for .dwg. It’s a less popular platform that provides all .dwg 2D CAD features while bringing the convenience of the powerful 3D modeling and time-saving tools. The program is expertly crafted with engineers in mind to support efficient execution of all projects.

The application provides intuitive modeling and drawing solutions and is available in 6 editions namely; Classic, Pro, Platinum, Mechanical, BIM, and Ultimate. It’s also open to 3rd party developers making it an ideal solution for users looking to scale past the AutoCAD horizon. Some of its key features include an intelligent quad cursor, settings manager, drawing explorer, dockable panel, layers & content browser, web map services, dynamic arrays, annotative scales, dynamic dimensions, and 3D modeling.

Overview of BricsCAD Benefits

BricsCAD is a powerful CAD solution that provides all the features required to accomplish 2D and 3D drawing as well as generate expert renderings. The solution has an intuitively tabbed interface with fully customizable toolbars and clean layout which make it easy to use. The interface presents a distinctive ribbon that offers the fastest way to navigate through your drawings and access the main tools.

Its expanded BIM add-in offers a streamlined workflow and accords you the power and convenience of crafting Information Modeling to your computer.  The context-sensitive Quad Cursor; QuadTM cursor also expedites the workflow. This intelligent cursor detects the dimension (2D or 3D) you are using and intuitively adjusts to present the commands you need.

BricsCAD exhibits its qualities as a unique CAD system that bases all design functions on the .dwg file format. In addition, the solution provides a geometric constraints solver that make use of adaptive and powerful tools to accomplish 3D direct solid modeling. The 3D direct editing features maintain your design intent, thereby enabling you to save time and headaches. Additionally, the 3D direct modeling functions work for all ACIS solid geometry including those created in BricsCAD and those that are imported.

The drawing explorer is the drawing command center. This feature lets you see every aspect of the object definitions, and implement them across the opened drawings. It allows you to navigate through and view your drawings in favorite folders or insert blocks without opening the source drawing. BrisCAD comes with a manipulator widget that helps you rotate, mirror, move, or scale the entities along the plane or axis. It provides a dynamic dimension input that permits precision position control.

PROS: So happy I found BricsCAD! I've been searching a long time for a CAD tool that is Linux- and Windows-compatible, with an interface that I am also familiar with. It definitely made me love drafting once more.

CONS: Very satisfied with this product. It would be great if all features are also available on BricsCAD's version on Linux-run OS, but this is very minor.

PROS: Finally--a CAD solution that operates seamlessly with Linux OS. The fact that BricsCAD does this is enough for me to choose this above any other option.

CONS: BricsCAD seems to have its own set of steps and route when it comes to designing and rendering. Of course, this is not too big of a deal, but it does pose as a problem if I choose to open my designs in other programs.

PROS: I like that BricsCAD is quick and reliable. It doesn't crash at all, which other tools are wont to do, and in turn, causes unnecessary delay at work. Tech support is solid at BricsCAD -- they would promptly fix glitches that we encounter, and the updates they do to improve the software is regular. It's so very useful for their development and for the benefit of our work using BricsCAD.

CONS: I don't have any at the moment.

Ease of Use

PROS: So worth the expense over any other tool. I'm a designer for creatives and corporates, so I find that BricsCAD is the best I've used so far. Its interface is easier to use, it's much faster, and it's less expensive. The files are smaller, so it's easier to import and work on, it doesn't require much effort to manipulate renderings, I don't have to download extra extensions, and their website tutorials are incredibly helpful.

CONS: I wish there are more tech and community support, plus video tutorial options. Perhaps a 24-hour service would help a lot more like me, who might not be in the same time zone as the BricsCAD team.

PROS: BricsCAD is so user-friendly, with an easy setup. It helps that most of the shortcuts and commands are familiar because I've used AutoCAD in the past.

CONS: Just something very small: it would be great if the learning curve to use the quad cursor will be a lot shorter.

PROS: I like that the tasks done on repeat are automated. The UI is very simple and the software is very clearly built for efficiency because of its impressive AI capacity.

CONS: I haven't found anything to dislike about BricsCAD. There are things that I'm just used to that I wish it has, like a dark interface, or that its intelligent quad cursor took some time to get used to, but there are personal preferences that don't change the fact that I love this CAD tool.

PROS: I love that BricsCAD is so similar to AutoCAD because I'm a superuser of the latter. The UI and UX are so much alike. BricsCAD is ahead in terms of features because of its five-module combo. I'm able to perform tasks with fewer clicks in this single software that offers capabilities in BIM, drafting, mechanical designing, rendering, and sketching. I'm really happy with this latest offering for CAD, which has both a free and premium version.

CONS: It would be great to purchase the product per module in the local currency.
