From the time I was able to test the features, there were none that stood out.

Join, only if you want to be hit by hidden charges.
I joined up to call hippo after their site claimed "Call from [local number] for just $6".
I looked at the basic user package, priced clearly at $0 per month, with a free soft phone, free forward to device.
This seemed perfect for my needs, so I joined up.
I looked at the Pricing pages before I joined and saw nothing to suggest these prices should differ.
Yet, as soon as I subscribed and paid for my package, I see that there's no possible way to use the service without a minimum $30 fee.
Any forwarded calls are charged, not free as their User Package page states.
I've since complained and suffered from next-to-hopeless customer services.
So if you're considering joining up, there will be hidden fees, and they won't tell you them until you've paid *something* for the service.
