What are the best aspects of this product?
Docparser provides a flexible system to configure how to categorize documents by type, and use different parsing rules for each type. The flexibility and configurability is what I most liked about the product.
What aspects are problematic or could work better?
They have put a lot of work into making something that could be really complicated into something manageable by non-technical users. However, there are some areas where I find myself wanting more control. "Regular Expressions", for example, are incredibly powerful but also incredibly hard to use for someone that doesn't work with regex syntax on a regular basis. While there is a low-level matcher that supports regex, all other parsing tools don't. It would be useful if they did.
What features/services would you like to see in future versions of this product?
More pre-processing filters and parsing tools. Ability to detect whether a piece of text is a title, paragraph, or footer, etc. maybe based on the font size and weight, or position on the page.
What specific problems in your company were solved by this product?
Docparser is exactly targeted at the problem we have to solve: extracting data from PDF forms, either cleanly received electronically, or having gone through a facsimile machine with some quality issues.
