Esri ArcGIS Review

PROS: As part of the research team, I need to use platforms that can deliver specific and accurate data for future use. I primarily rely on ArcGIS when it comes to conducting spatial analysis and creating geo maps from scratch. Using a modern GIS platform makes me feel confident that I am doing my job correctly. If it’s your first time using this platform, then you should welcome it with open arms. You’ll be surprised to find out that there are a lot of things its capable of doing.

CONS: There are quite a lot of free mapping programs that are made available to the public. In my honest opinion if ArcGIS wants to gain more loyal clients, then they should come up with a strategy to make their pricing more affordable. Since they charge higher than their competitors, they should improve their user experience by eliminating bugs and system issues which affects the majority of the people’s workflow.

PROS: We were looking for a tool that can give us accurate geographical analysis as well as complete demographics and actual data analysis that would be useful for our future project planning and business strategies. We are aware that it is not that easy to find an all in one software that can do so many things for our entire organization. We have tried several geo-mapping apps, but all of them did not meet nor exceed our expectations except for ArcGIS. In terms of speed, accuracy, adaptability and flexibility, you can indeed rely on ArcGIS to get your much-awaited data in just a matter of time.

CONS: I don’t consider myself an expert when it comes to mapping and data analytics. That is why I find it challenging to use the software without asking for help from some of my colleagues. I would appreciate it if they could find ways to make things easier for users like me. Another issue is the cost of the software license doesn’t come cheap. Some people can’t afford it, and they may consider switching to other cost-efficient GIS providers or look for better alternatives instead.

PROS: My team has been using ArcGIS for quite some time already. We use this for creating or building maps and adding specific data that are utilized for further studies. We need to have a reliable data source before we come up with projects or making decisions that can make an impact on the community and the people living within.

CONS: Coding issues are quite common that sometimes affect the functionality of the entire software. It's not as smooth as we expect it to be and something needs to be done about it. We reported these issues to the tech team and they're doing their best to make things better for us. There are free GIS software that has the same function so if they don't fix their issues people might consider looking for better alternatives.

PROS: We highly rely on maps to determine the exact geographical locations and compile essential data that are meant for analyzing and reporting. As geologists, we consider ourselves lucky to be allowed to create maps from scratch and make changes as the needs arise. ArcGIS is the ideal software in the market that can provide us with all the resources that we need to become more productive. It also gives us the chance to work with 2D shapes and designs that are very useful in creating visual reports that are made accessible to all employees.

CONS: You need to be very tech-savvy if you want to enjoy using ArcGIS. Since I don't consider myself an expert in mapping, I have to admit experiencing a degree of difficulty when using this app. The interface needs a lot of improvement in terms of visual appeal, plus they should simplify their options to make the program more user friendly.

PROS: A lot of businesses or entrepreneurs do not take spatial analysis and data science very seriously. This is because they don’t realize its importance in terms of making significant decisions and their impact on the majority. I am thankful that our organization takes pride in utilizing ArcGIS as its primary platform in data collection and analysis and making it accessible to a large number of people. All of the essential information that you need to make a decision is right before your fingertips.

CONS: I am looking forward to seeing some upgrades in terms of features and functions soon. It would be a great idea to improve their mapping device by incorporating HD or 3D images into their system. In terms of data integration and analysis, I am hoping that they can come up with ways to promote consistency at all times.

PROS: The interface is designed perfectly for entrepreneurs. We can easily find any specific information that we are looking for, therefore increasing our productivity tenfolds.

CONS: If the maps that we are creating are too big, there is a tendency for the platform to slow down or crash. Its a significant problem, especially if we have to meet deadlines. It doesn't happen very often, but we would appreciate it if it would never happen again.

PROS: It's not the easiest to use mapping software available. Still, it serves its purpose in terms of mapping, analytics, costing, and even revenue. ArcGIS utilizes advanced features that help us find all the essential information that we are looking for before we decide if we should push through with our projects or not. We were able to utilize the tool for several of our watershed and irrigation projects across various farmlands in the country.

CONS: They should do something to improve the interface of their actual application because it looks confusing, and users like me end up feeling overwhelmed. It would be nice if they can make some adjustments or simplify the interface so we can get our job done faster. It took us some time to be familiar with the system, but aside from that, there is nothing more for me to complain about.

PROS: ArcGIS is not your typical business platform. What I like best about this is its flexibility in terms of features. You can use it to maximize your purpose or any upcoming projects. Currently, ArcGIS is playing an essential role in a few of our government projects to help us look for prime locations and extract relevant data at the same time.

CONS: I find the platform a little bit outdated compared to its contemporaries. I have to admit that I sometimes get frustrated when I try to explore more of the platform’s features. I need more tutorials and practice to upgrade my mapping skills. Also, government employees find it hard to adapt to GIS because a lot of their existing platforms are not compatible with it.

PROS: Part of my job description is to take charge of mapping, so I decided to look for a tool that can help me do things more manageable. I did some research and found out that ArcGIS has a lot of good feedback. I am ecstatic knowing that I can create professional-looking 3D maps for my colleagues as well as our external clients. Most of them are impressed with my work. I make sure that all my maps are quite comprehensive that even a high school student can interpret things accurately.

CONS: ArcGIS is not a tool for beginners. To be blunt, there are times that I still struggle with the platform. It took me a while to get used to all the navigation process. Also, the system is quite slow even though I already upgraded my processor. I guess that they need to look further into this issue to satisfy most of their clients. On the bright side, I would like to extend my appreciation to their back up team. Aside from getting the support, they also created some learning materials that can help us understand ArcGIS on a more complex level.

PROS: With ArcGIS, it feels like you are painting a large portrait that says a thousand words. It allows you to conduct spatial analysis, study patterns, develop a hypothesis and relay your results based on all the facts that you have collated. It gives your audience a broader picture of what's going on and what should be done.

CONS: It took me longer than expected to be comfortable with the application. Luckily I was able to seek help from GIS experts in the office. It would be better if they can come up with a learner guide that tackles common issues with ArcGIS. So a lot of people like me would feel at ease with the program.

PROS: I am happy that I learned about ArcGIS because it has stepped up my game as an educator. Using this application has taught me modern learning methods that would engage my students to participate in my classes. My students became more interested in our class discussions, and they love learning more about maps and what goes on behind it. I am looking forward to implementing the use of ArcGIS in all of my classes and encourage students to use this app for their projects and research.

CONS: It is impossible to learn the application in just one sitting. You need to give yourself some time to be familiar with all the features. If you are not familiar with geo-mapping apps, you will find this platform intimidating. But if you look at the bright side, ArcGIS comes with a lot of advantages that you can use to make learning fun, more natural and more engaging.

PROS: It took us a while to search for the perfect GIS platform that we can work with. We tried several of them, but we weren't satisfied with the results. We rely on ArcGIS to give us relevant details that would assist is in planning all of our projects and make sure that we are on the right track.

CONS: The price is something that made us think not just twice but thrice before availing the software. It does not come cheap, but if you'll consider what happens with the package, then it is worth it.

PROS: We rely on geospatial data when conducting research and deep-dive analysis for our maintenance activities and ongoing projects for the city. There is no need to undergo a gruesome process of retrieving and information and quantitative data because ArcGIS can give you all of these in no time.

CONS: Some of the versions are quite slow and cumbersome as compared to others. I want to point out that we are currently using ver 10.6.1, and it takes us some time to retrieve data. There are scenarios where the system would hand for a few minutes that resets your tasks back to square one.

PROS: Arc-Gis gives us the ability to develop our very own geospatial mapping system. This helps us determine the number of students that we expect to be part of our school system each year. It gives us a specific amount of data that aids us in forecasting, planning, and implementation. Meanwhile, we use convex polygons to help us determine our outliers so we can create corresponding action plans as well.

CONS: The platform looks and feels too complicated for my liking. A lot of employees have been using this platform for quite some time, but most of them are still intimidated by it. I'm hoping that I can have the opportunity to join in some forums or training so I can make use of the platform to make better and more effective decisions.
