What are the best aspects of this product?
FastSpring is a comprehensive international multilingual payment software with invoicing. We can market our product internationally without stressing about the taxation and billing regulation. We can even collect one or more batch payments rather than directly invoicing each customer.
Basically, FastSpring takes care of the collection of tax, billing, recurring bill, payment reminders and invoice for our clients around the globe.
There are also no monthly fees that I think is very beneficial for those with small businesses. Also, payments were quick and it has great API.
What aspects are problematic or could work better?
We've seen many sporadic "glitches" with them in recent years. But what we really don't like about it are:
First, it has become more commercial and less intimate. Even declined to update their translation of Latvian language which is very essential to us since there's a typo error on the order page.
Second, is poor management. The app had a glitch that ended us failing to charge several of our clients potentially costing us money and there wasn't even a follow-up report about the incident.
Generally, these have very little effect but FastSpring must do better next time.
Also, there are additional fees you need to pay to stay free from the stress of global coverage and compliance which are not the cheapest by the way.
What specific problems in your company were solved by this product?
For us, FastSpring makes it convenient to market SaaS subscription internationally and not care about the bookkeeping, local billing, and taxation. Essentially, FastSpring is the reseller we need. Only a very few vendors sell a kit that is all-in-one.
