It’s a bit hard to learn but once you understand how it works, everything becomes a breeze

What are the best aspects of this product?

It’s a GUI based version control system that is very unique. There’s a bit of a learning curve but once you fully understand the software, operating it becomes a piece of cake. Its interface is very user-friendly. It even comes with a real-time comparison of our scripts, which is quite useful. Aside from that, there is a comprehensive dashboard that gives us a good view of the recent changes submitted as well as a comparison of the versions available. The latter helps us know whether or not we have the latest script. Last but not least, the installation and configuration of the system are very easy.

What aspects are problematic or could work better?

First, it is not very easy to learn. If you have worked with BitBucket or GIT before, using this system may be quite confusing for you. Second, uploading scripts is quite a lengthy process. I have to go through the directory, make a pending checklist, place the files there, and submit. It would be nice if there’s a bash window where we can simply send commands in order to upload the scripts. After the scripts are reviewed, they are pushed directly to the Depot, so we usually don’t have a chance to branch concepts. Third, it cannot be integrated with other IDEs like pycharm. So we just make a cloud or local copy of the script. Lastly, most IT firms in India are using BitBucket or GIT so your experience using this tool may not be useful when applying for a job.

What specific problems in your company were solved by this product?

We are able to submit scripts to the cloud with so much ease. And because it’s in the cloud, anyone in the department can easily review a script version and get the updated one.
