PROS: Helix Core offers many good things but what I like the most is the ability to integrate it with our own in-built app and sometimes with third-party solutions. Apart from that, I can use it at my home-owned server to test different aspects which is pretty fun.

CONS: There are a few things that are annoying but most of them are minor and pretty easy to fix. They are no big deal, and honestly, I cannot even remember them.

PROS: It’s a GUI based version control system that is very unique. There’s a bit of a learning curve but once you fully understand the software, operating it becomes a piece of cake. Its interface is very user-friendly. It even comes with a real-time comparison of our scripts, which is quite useful. Aside from that, there is a comprehensive dashboard that gives us a good view of the recent changes submitted as well as a comparison of the versions available. The latter helps us know whether or not we have the latest script. Last but not least, the installation and configuration of the system are very easy.

CONS: First, it is not very easy to learn. If you have worked with BitBucket or GIT before, using this system may be quite confusing for you. Second, uploading scripts is quite a lengthy process. I have to go through the directory, make a pending checklist, place the files there, and submit. It would be nice if there’s a bash window where we can simply send commands in order to upload the scripts. After the scripts are reviewed, they are pushed directly to the Depot, so we usually don’t have a chance to branch concepts. Third, it cannot be integrated with other IDEs like pycharm. So we just make a cloud or local copy of the script. Lastly, most IT firms in India are using BitBucket or GIT so your experience using this tool may not be useful when applying for a job.

PROS: There are many things to love about this software. First, it offers a wide range of functionalities so you can do what you have to do. In our case, we are able to manage data of our huge scale productions and boost our productivity. Another awesome thing is the introduction of awesome new features like the Helix4Git. The next thing I like about this tool is its UI tool as well as the command-line tool which is pretty useful in our constant integration system. Lastly, I like the ease of administering user as well as group rights.

CONS: There's a bit of a learning curve. The system is quite different from other common version control systems such as GIT. And most of the new staff who joins our team aren't familiar with the system. So they had to spend some time learning how it functions. Also, you should know that this tool works best for huge teams. So if your team is small or you have a small project, it is best to choose another solution.

PROS: First, we're able to get interesting visual information regarding source changes from the graphs and history provided by this tool. Second, it's very flexible. It offers customization via P4Broker or via scripts. Third, there's a visually nice, very useful merge tool that lets us integrate modifications from several branches. Lastly, it can be integrated with programming IDE like Visual Studio IDE.

CONS: Anyone can easily change labels so it cannot be utilized to determine official release for the team. Also, since the directory isn't a controlled object in the program, we are left with no choice but make dummy files to introduce a project's file architecture. Apart from that, it could have been a nice support directory link. Unfortunately, it doesn't work for our projects.

PROS: It generally made our life easier. The quality of our codes has been better since using this tool alongside the Swarm review tool.

CONS: Swarm is ideal if you have a huge team. It lets multiple users modify the same file at the same time. So if you just have a small team, I think it would be better to look for other solutions that will really fit your requirements. Also, this tool has some requirements that delay our operations. For instance, even after the Swarm review has already been approved, if we combine other modifications made, it requests a review again which blocks the check-in for review. There are also times when it asks for our P4V password while doing some processes. There's no password authentication process so we had to change the password for security purposes.

PROS: Whether you have a huge project or a small one, you sure won't go wrong with this tool. It is great for this day's CI/CD solutions. It has great granularity of access control and an amazing, reliable customer/technical support.

CONS: If it was to be compared to GIT, this tool is inferior in some aspects. It is not as dynamic as GIT, requires larger HW resources, and needs more system admin.

PROS: It functions as it is supposed to - helping IT teams develop and deliver quality digital products faster. And in case a problem with the system arise, they have a reliable support team that responds quickly.

CONS: Support isn't available 24/7 and it can be a problem for teams working in a different time zone. It would be nice if the support would be available all the time. Or at least they provide German Support.

PROS: I like the p4merge visual layout and its revision graph view. The latter is excellent and offers a nice overview. Additionally, there's no shadow folder which is what I'm looking for in this kind of tool.

CONS: It's quite difficult to download something from the perforce such as the oneliner. But I think if there's a p4 commandline installed as well as credentials, it would be possible to download something directly from it. It is also somehow challenging to introduce the system to new users because of how its workspace view is set up.

PROS: It has easy-to-use graphical tools (e.g. file history graphs and revision graph), an incredible time-lapse tool, side-by-side diff tool (which I think I cannot live without now), powerful command-line tools, and so much more! Additionally, I like its graphical interface which is awesome and makes it easier to manage the change list, several different workspaces, merging, etc. Furthermore, it gives us a manageable and secured single repository and huge repositories from which users can easily and quickly access files. And of course, we should not forget about their amazing support that we can rely on whenever a problem or concern arises. Overall, this tool just made our life and work easy.

CONS: If you come from a GIT background, you may have a lot of adjustments to do because this product is like a whole different system. But it's somehow fun to learn. There are many online videos available that will guide you every step of the way. They're actually effective. I've learned most of what I know now from those videos. Also, setting up the system is quite difficult at first. But once you learn how to do it, things will be easier the next time you do it.

PROS: We are able to keep a version history of files that the team created, thanks to the integration with the MadCap Flare. It makes it easier to find something we've done in the past. Also, this product provides a desktop client which allows us to see our full file directories and even open documents from there in various programs. And while there's a bit of a learning curve at first, the system is actually easy to use. It's a pretty good version control system.

CONS: You should know that this system, by default, allows users to check out and modify a file that other users have checked out. Therefore, in order to not lose the changes you've made, make sure to enable the exclusive checkout.

PROS: The system is fast and we know precisely which repository to begin looking at. Because there's only one, our team has replicated it to several sites giving quick access to users from different parts of the globe without consuming much bandwidth. The system's auditing capabilities are also useful and reliable. It lets us see how consumers are using a product and also helps us discover trends in the market. Lastly, Perforce has an amazing support team. They've been so patient and willing to guide and teach us how to do things, understand how to create a more efficient pipeline, and many other things.

CONS: Whenever there's a need for a system upgrade, we had to do it manually. Although it requires some work, on the brighter side of things, upgrading manually allows us to know exactly the versions we are running. And it gives us a sense of security.

PROS: It has many great things to offer but what I appreciate the most are its graphical tools such as the Merge Tool and the Revision Graph, Swarm add-on which is very helpful in reviews and collaboration (but it would be better if it just come as an integrated tool instead of an add-on), and the amazing and reliable support. I also like the ability to automate and access scripts via command line or by using different APIs. There is also a knowledge base available which is really useful when you are just starting to learn how to use the system.

CONS: The concept of this system's workspace as well as checking out files is different from GIT. So you may be quite confused using this tool if you have been working with the latter solution. Also, administering and setting up the system gets a bit complex whenever we use more advanced functionalities such as broker, replication, etc. Aside from that, we also often encounter problems with integration records whenever we try to use a convenient way of doing Backout or Rollback.
