PROS & CONS

What are the best aspects of this product?

First, we're able to get interesting visual information regarding source changes from the graphs and history provided by this tool. Second, it's very flexible. It offers customization via P4Broker or via scripts. Third, there's a visually nice, very useful merge tool that lets us integrate modifications from several branches. Lastly, it can be integrated with programming IDE like Visual Studio IDE.

What aspects are problematic or could work better?

Anyone can easily change labels so it cannot be utilized to determine official release for the team. Also, since the directory isn't a controlled object in the program, we are left with no choice but make dummy files to introduce a project's file architecture. Apart from that, it could have been a nice support directory link. Unfortunately, it doesn't work for our projects.

What specific problems in your company were solved by this product?

We can work as a team in a seamless manner, keep track of all changes made in the code, and do efficient code reviews through shelving files which are modified without interrupting our co-developers. Reconciling changes we've made locally during the time of providing support to customers on-site has also been a great capability as it lets us keep all the changes we've done in the field. We just submit them when we get back to the office.
