IBM SPSS Review

PROS: I love how this program does not require you to have formal training on programming. With just a few clicks of a button, you can easily translate your data and get a thorough, predictive analysis from it. It’s user-friendly and the environment is, surprisingly, not intimidating.

CONS: I only have praises reserved for this program.

PROS: It doesn’t seem to matter what size of data you feed into SPSS’s system—it can still run the analytics accurately for you. I find this really impressive and useful in my field of work. The insights that we’ve been getting from it have been useful so far.

CONS: The only thing I would change about this program is the responsiveness of their customer reps. They take too long to respond (if they respond at all).

PROS: This has been a helpful program in my endeavor to make sure that our data sets are error-free. I can easily run my files through this and scrub out any doubles and issues.

CONS: I cannot set the system to automatically scan and clean our files every x number of days.

PROS: SPSS has simplified our analytics process by allowing us to automate our processes. I think it’s great how we can easily clean up and manipulate our data before running it for text analytics. If we wanted to dip our toes further into its features, we can easily create codes through Python and R and simply run them here in SPSS. The latter, however, requires a background on coding.

CONS: We’d want a more thorough data check. How can we identify the cause of data errors if we’re not equipped with statistical elements such as random checks and others? It’s pretty hard to run analytics on media files like video and images too.  

PROS: The web design is not much of a looker, but what it lacks in aesthetics, it makes up in robustness. It’s the best statistical analysis tool I’ve ever come across.

CONS: It is best used by those who are knowledgeable in manipulating statistical data. It’s not beginner-friendly.

PROS: I love just how adaptable this program is. It works for just about anyone. I could be a businessman who’s simply using this for its analytics capabilities or I could be a hardcore coder and write my scripts here with the integration of R and Python—either way, this program will complement my needs and skills.

CONS: Still waiting on the updates. I’m excited about it, and the anticipation is building up!

PROS: This is easily my go-to solution for handling statistical data. It gives me clear results and can handle just about any data size.

CONS: This requires prior training, especially in statistics.

PROS: I love how I can easily open documents from SPSS. This lets me scrub out dupes and other errors in my data files before I run it back in SPSS’ analytics. I don’t have a solid background in coding, but it’s great how this program lets me manipulate our data and pull out reports easily. It’s impressive and very easy to use.

CONS: Its data visualization features are a bit lacking. Right now, it’s difficult to render more visually appealing reports.

PROS: This program makes dealing with numbers less intimidating. It can interpret just about anything at a speed that I really find satisfactory.

CONS: I don’t think that there’s any negative feedback to share. I would, however, issue a word of warning to others: you’d need to recruit the help of external support such as Python or R to run your scripts in. Other than this, everything works fine.

PROS:  When it comes to analytics, I believe that SPSS is king. It allows us to keep versions and track the history of instructions of our work files. This means that we can easily pull out the variables and recreate them for future tests. It can do the heavy-lifting when it comes to analytics. It’s really great!

CONS: Admittedly, this is quite a difficult tool to learn. Some of our staff don’t have prior training and it has been a steep learning curve for them. We don’t get the proper back-up from the SPSS team too. I hope they’d level up on their customer support.

PROS: Manipulating our existing data is now a lot easier with SPSS. We can segment them, group, or divide them into any way that we prefer. The results that we get after running analytics are straightforward and clear too.

CONS: It’s a steep learning curve—one that requires you to study and understand the basics of statistics and analytics.

PROS: One thing that I find impressive about SPSS is that it can easily manipulate data in bulk. Other solutions might freeze, but not this one. It’s a trooper that can give you accurate and timely results that you need for your research. It does not dilly-dally when it comes to giving solutions too. The answers it provides are clear and direct.

CONS: You need a solid background on understanding statistical numbers to be able to successfully operate this.

PROS: The first thing that I noticed is that IBM has quite a hefty onboarding handbook. Although the education process is a little long, once you get to know this program, everything should just come easy after. The interface is very clean and easy to navigate. It has all the components that one often looks for in a visual data and machine learning solution.  You can enjoy predictive analytics and model management—all in one, complete package. 

CONS: It’s not very easy to extract the natural language and organize them. There are some features that don’t render well; while there are some that are only available in the higher-end package. Finally, their advanced modeling features are not exactly beginner-friendly. 

PROS: It’s easy and simple. Everything is laid out properly and I could experiment in the first parts of my work, and then eventually move on to some of its more complicated functions.

CONS: It’s almost impossible to shift from coding when using this program. The change is very abrupt, and those who are not trained enough might not be able to transition well. Not all configurations can be seen right away too.

PROS: The version available now is definitely so much better than the last. I’m glad that they’re continuing their efforts to improve and polish this program

CONS: There are times when our files get misplaced within the system. I hope they would fix this glitch soon.

PROS: I don’t have any proper training nor education on programming and coding, but I’ve been able to use SPSS to its full capacity.

CONS: This has happened a couple of times already—my outputs might work perfectly fine on SPSS, but it does not render well when Python enters into the equation. I have to go through a couple of loops just for it to translate properly.

PROS: There’s high traffic of data that we process on a daily basis. This is where IBM SPSS Modeler comes into play. Through it, we can easily translate our data into comprehensible and easily understood reports and presentations. And the best part? It does so in a speedy and efficient manner too. Its analytics features are truly second to none. I’m glad we have this backing up our operations.

CONS: I have nothing negative to share about this tool.

PROS: It is supposed to help you analyze your data. I can only only guess those things work. But based on the basics, I\\\\\\\'m not sure they do.

CONS: They forgot about basic functionality... you know, opening, closing, merging. It is a beast. It just sits and spins when you click something, doesn\\\\\\\'t let the user know, \\\\\\\"Hey you clicked on something, now since my programming is completely the worst ever, it\\\\\\\'s going to take me 8.5 minutes to move on to the next screen so you can do the next step.\\\\\\\"
