iMovie Review

PROS: It can be used for creating various types of videos including but not limited to video ads, commercials, or even just a simple slideshow. The videos that are created using this tool can be exported to different formats. I also like the ability to publish videos straight from the software.

CONS: The templates, presets, and effects available are quite limited. I wish there are more options. I also wish to see and use features that aren't available in any other video editor.

PROS: The software and the tools available are extremely easy to use. I never had any difficulty getting started with editing using this tool.I can edit the video and add effects with just a few clicks. No need to go through training nor watch tutorials. The effects are also great. I love the Ken Burns effect because it adds depth in the video and makes it more interesting. I also like the number of saving options.

CONS: iMovie is good as it is. But if it is to be compared with other video editing software, it actually offers very limited number of effects and other functions.

PROS: I use iMovie to show to my students the basics of video editing in an app and also to let them experience video editing firsthand. And they love it! This tool is very simple so walking my students through the process of video editing was a piece of cake. It seems like they easily understand how this tool works and are able to edit clips and even add effects. I asked them to create their own music videos.

CONS: I love this software but I'll admit I didn't have a seamless experience. I did encounter a few minor problems like app crashing and freezing which usually interrupts our work. Aside from that, I struggle to compile multiple video clips.

PROS: There are three things I consider as pros of this tool. First, it comes pre-installed after you buy a Mac. I didn’t spend a penny to acquire the app. Second, it is very easy to use. You don’t need to be an expert in editing videos nor had experience using other video editors to be able to figure out how it works and how to get editing done. Lastly, it is not stuffed with unnecessary features.

CONS: It’s not light so expect that this app would eat up your memory space. Sometimes, it freezes up and I had to wait like forever to get back to my work.

PROS: It is simple and user-friendly. There's no need to go searching through various windows to locate what you need. There are pop-up windows as well as drop-down menus, making it possible to search for the tools you need without having to look away from the video you are working on.

CONS: It's not possible to layer several different overlays over a single video clip, which is a bit frustrating. But it's not a deal-breaker. My app also once kept crashing when I updated it. Good thing the recent update solved the problem.

PROS: Like any other Apple product, iMovie is designed with power and simplicity that lets you find your way around the software easily. It generally makes video editing, which is somehow daunting when you use other solutions, an easy process.

CONS: I get a little confused about the Media, Projects, & Theaters tabs. An old file was once overwritten when I create a new project. It was very frustrating. So hopefully, they separate those tabs to avoid confusion.

PROS: For small business owners who need videos but do not have the funds to hire a professional video editor nor have in-depth knowledge creating one, iMovie is the perfect tool to have. It is free and is very easy to use, perfect for novices. The range of functionality, transitions, and effects are also great. You can create videos that look like Hollywood films or at least videos that attract the interest of social media audience.

CONS: The advance functionalities available are quite limited. It would be great if they add more so users can somehow practice advance editing. Also, some tools are counter-intuitive.

PROS: Its interface is very user-friendly and the tool is generally easy to use. Perfect for beginners, those with no budget but wants to create quality videos, as well as for those who need to create or edit videos fast. There are templates available if you don't know where to get started. But you can also choose to make everything your own if you want to be unique.

CONS: It's very easy to use but there are many things you cannot do because the variety of templates available and other tools are limited. It is missing many features offered by more "complicated" video editing software.

PROS: I have used this video editor for so many years and by far it is the easiest app I know of. It also has all the essentials for beginners in film editing like the integrated voice-over recording tool as well as extensive editing tools. It's a great option if you want to learn and practice video editing.

CONS: It does not have many options for filming multiple frame sizes and rates. Meaning to say, it is not ideal for more advanced editing. iMovie is great for beginners but not for professionals in film making.

PROS: It got a simple and very user-friendly interface that even beginners will find it easy to get started with video editing. Aside from ease of use, this tool also offers several options for editing and making your video better. One of the things I enjoy most is the ability to crop videos. It’s very helpful because I often forget to turn off the camera’s timestamp. There’s also the reverse video function which makes a good effect. It’s one of my favorite features. The finished video can be exported to the file type you want or need.

CONS: There’s a limit to the credits or text overlays you can include in the video. The number of templates is also quite limited so I often had to upload or create my own. I also had a problem with the speed of the app. When I upload too many clips and audios in the app, it slows down. I had to clean them out every after a few months to get the app working fast.

PROS: It helps me turn raw footage into extraordinary looking videos with titles and music. And I can do that without having to work with too many technicalities. It’s easy to explore the app and understand the function of each feature available. With this tool, there’s no doubt you could come up with beautiful and professional videos that will awe your friends and peers.

CONS: I cannot layer various overlays more than a single clasp of video and it’s quite frustrating.

PROS: It is very easy to edit videos in this app. I just import the media I need and then add captions, transitions, and effects that I feel suits the video best. The app is also for free so there are actually no risks involve trying this out.

CONS: It doesn’t have enough features for doing real post-production edits. The tools it offers are only good for doing basic editing like combining clips or trimming videos.

PROS: I just love its simplicity and ease of use. You can easily use it even if you are not skilled in editing or have no experience using a video editing software. And in case you are already proficient with editing, then using this tool to turn raw footages into something exemplary will be a piece of cake. Btw, I also love this app’s sleek design and ease of navigation. Also, it’s neither clutched nor crowded.

CONS: I actually cannot think of any drawback right now. It’s good as it is. But I also cannot say this tool is already perfect. I believe there’s still room for improvement.

PROS: It’s ideal for beginners because the controls and interface are very simple and easy to use. The timeline controls, as well as cursor, are very intuitive. Also, there are many hot keys available to make the process more streamlined and seamless. You can resize and move clips by just dragging its endpoints. If you’re finished, there’s a preview image of your clip. This video editor may be designed for novices but with the features available, it can also be used by advanced video editors to produce quality and professional videos.

CONS: The effects available are mostly basics like text titles and clip transitions. It would be nice if they add more options. Also, the process of exporting the finished video is not that seamless. There are only a few options available and sometimes, nothing fits my video project specifications.

PROS: iMovie is not just easy to use. It also provides a few technical areas that give you the feeling of being an expert when editing. It may not be a Final Cut Pro but this video editor does have enough editing possibilities which makes it an awesome tool to use.

CONS: It is missing some incredible features that some of its competitors offer. Nevertheless, it is still great. The new version helps me get my job done with video or movie editing.

PROS: It makes a novice look like a professional when it comes to editing and producing videos. I began using this video editing tool to produce short videos for my company. The video editing process is pretty straightforward and simple. I just crop the videos and afterward drop it into the app where I do some editing. The final video can be shared with ease. The best thing, I didn’t pay a penny for the tool.

CONS: Sometimes, I feel like the process of converting the video to a certain format takes too long than it should. Also, I feel like the tutorials available are not comprehensive enough. It would be great if it shows how to make the most out of the app.
