What are the best aspects of this product?
It helps us from the time we decide to plan for an upcoming project to when we execute it. With Jira we are able to get all the requirements of the project and put them in Jira before we can begin the development process. This saves the time and effort as we are able to track all those requirements during the developmental life cycle of the project. The scrum board feature is what makes everything look simple from the start to finish. We are able to know which requirements or tasks are a priority and complete them first before we attend to others. Clients and project managers can oversee the projects’ development and comment on the same or point out the issues from the same platform. The reporting feature also works fine to help know the status of the project.
What aspects are problematic or could work better?
There is problem with how difficult the tool is to use. It has a steep learning curve which means that you will need a form of training to explore all the features. This could be because it has a lot of feature to digest and thus getting to know each and every one of them can be a tough thing to do. Due to this, some people may opt for another tool with fewer and simpler features to deal with. The design of Jira is not as attractive as I would expect and thus it could be improved in more ways to make it presentable and smooth in terms of operation. Some of the features are also not that intuitive.
What specific problems in your company were solved by this product?
We were able to manage the bugs, tasks, project team and clients in a better way. The whole process is effortless and thus we can concentrate on the project’s main requirements and objectives during the development life cycle. For the project managers, they are able to know which tasks are pending and assign them to team members who are idle. It helps to increase the visibility of the project and thus help managers run those projects without delays and in a smooth way. This saves time and effort as customers can get what they want. For the case of software developers, they can manage clients’ needs using Jira through the reporting feature. Ticketing is automated to make the work easier and such bugs are addressed in time.
