I recommend Magento for middle to large businesses

What are the best aspects of this product?

It is easy to set up and its UI is full of configurable options and features. I like its themes and their design. Also, Magento offers great set of plugins and documentation is great for both end-users and developers. It provides lot of articles and Stack Exchange site for Magento which is helpful if you run into some issues.

What aspects are problematic or could work better?

I don’t like its Interface and because there are lot of templates you cannot easily find what you’re looking for. Also, it has steep learning curve and they haven’t improved the security issues.

What specific problems in your company were solved by this product?

I use it to integrate inventory systems like RICS and DDI and these require custom API. I managed to create basic Magento sites for clients without using any third party solutions. Magento is widely used and this means that it has great community and you can easily find answers to your questions.
