Microsoft Access Review

PROS: Query logic seems to be streamlined. I love how it can be integrated into Office Suite. Its own template library offers various tools that can be customized for certain business requirements. A majority of traditional uses can be upgrade in the software itself. Or they can be spotted in user forums online.

CONS: Certain functionality appears to be inconsisent with other Office titles. This can lead to a steeper learning curve. Even with support present, external classes could be highly beneficial for newer users that would let them maximize this robust software. It would seem that this software would be intimidating in the initial going. But first time users can adapt quickly with a bit of experience.

PROS: I had no choice but to swiftly acquire Microsoft Access on my first job. That job involves being in a research setting for a well-known hospital. I was a bit worried that the UI can be challenging to get over with. Fortunately, it didn't being unsolvable. Microsoft Access is straight to the point and sooner, I can enjoy making forms within our database.

CONS: I have a superficial critique for Microsoft Access: with technology design evolving, it would seem as if this platform would lose out in keeping up with user experience created in the latest data capture systems. In addition, its capacity is limited in building forms which slowed down our process of data collection. This time though, my team will transition to REDCap. This makes it possible for users to make online data capture forms. We're hoping to make forms for our clinicians to utilize in real-time.

Even with a limitations in data, if you've gone over 2GB, you won't be able to utilize MS Access again. This could be attributed to its security.

PROS: The thing that I liked most with Access is making queries from a multiple tables. It'll give you access in making a customized report from info across tables. You can utilize its pre-installed wizard to offer a step-by-step guide or make it on your own. Basically, you're offered full control in grouping tables via a relationship.
