Review of Microsoft Dynamics GP

What are the best aspects of this product?

Microsoft Dynamics is a sold ERP system that has been very useful for our mid-sized company. We started using the app in 2005 and initially there was a small learning curve. We took our time to implement the software to make use of all the features. For me, the best features are the accounting screens which are easy to use and feature-rich, the responsive and helpful customer support, and the hundreds of add-ons that enhance the functionality of the system.

What aspects are problematic or could work better?

There are a few drawbacks. A few features are lacking such as the critical intercompany AR (you need to buy a third party module for this). The customer source database is hard to navigate and search. Finally, the GP 2013 web portal is very confusing and complicated.

What specific problems in your company were solved by this product?

We started using Microsoft Dynamics GP as a replacement to an outdated accounting system that dated back to 1982. We are using GP to rebuild our financial reporting, clean up historic data, update our General Ledger chart of accounts, and use the SQL database engine which helps us to use accounting data with our other internal software.
