What is Oracle Spatial and Graph?

Oracle Spatial and Graph is an advanced and comprehensive component platform of the Oracle Database that handles spatial and graph data for various types of cloud and on-premise applications that rely on such a database.

This industry-leading spatial and graph data management platform provides the performance, scalability, and security needed by applications used in different industries, including transportation and logistics, utilities, telecommunication, agriculture, finance, energy, healthcare and life sciences, intelligence, and media.

Oracle Spatial and Graph allows you to add location intelligence and geospatial capabilities to your applications. The platform is equipped with advanced spatial features built to meet the requirements of applications for mapping, modeling, and analyzing any type of geospatial data.

Overview of Oracle Spatial and Graph Benefits

Spatial Data Management

Oracle Spatial and Graph helps you easily incorporate geospatial capabilities into the applications you’re managing using Oracle Database. It comes with advanced models and services that enable you to manage whatever types of geospatial data needed by your GIS applications.

The platform supports the modeling of network data, analysis of raster and gridded data, execution of 3D and point cloud operations and management of topological information.

Spatial features for managing all workloads and datasets for location-enabled applications are provided as well. These include map visualization, location querying and analysis, and native geocoding and routing support.

Property Graph Database

The spatial and graph data management platform is built with a scalable database of property graphs that you can use for visualizing and analyzing large volumes of data.

With more than 50 built-in graph analytics functionalities, this database lets you discover and explore insights into big data. It performs quick and scalable queries on your graph data and reveals relationships in the data.

RDF Graph Data Management

Oracle Spatial and Graph also includes features exclusively designed for managing and analyzing RDF or Resource Description Framework graph data. It stores and manages your RDF graph data in a database in accordance with W3C standards.

In addition, the platform uses a standard language for analyzing graph data called SPARQ. This provides you with a comprehensive way of querying and analyzing RDF graph data. PROS: This program has helped us cover all our bases in filtering and organizing sensor data on air quality. Through it, we were able to gain insight into daily routines so we can work more efficiently as a team. Oracle Spatial is absolutely superb!

CONS: I haven't been able to tap into all of its features yet--and it seems as if I never will. Taking screenshots is also quite impossible here.

PROS: I love how Oracle Spatial seems to have all the solutions to my problems. It can easily scale with its users and it offers a wide array of tools that I can use for work. I used to dread having to manage our data, but having Oracle somehow makes the task a lot better. It makes mapping synchronization a whole lot easier too. On top of all of this, it integrates smoothly and easily with free GIS programs too. Overall, this is a program that has proven to be worth every dime.

CONS: It takes a while to get around to fully making use of its features. So new users take some time to be properly oriented with its use.

It's been really easy to fill out graphs and identify the synchronizing axis because of Oracle.

CONS: So far, this has worked really well to my advantage. I wish that there'd be more resources for it online, but this is still nothing to complain about.

PROS: Oracle is a great too for spatial processing functions--from managing parallel queries to version controlling and to the partitioning of tables and synchronizing data. It's secure and scalable too!

CONS: It needs to have a team (or at least a person) dedicated to using this program alone. This way, companies can make the most of their functions such as map production.
