OutSystems Review

PROS: This software allows us to develop applications faster, giving us plenty of time to focus on other areas of our business. We are now able to pay more attention to the feedback of our users and enhance our apps to match their needs better.

CONS: Perhaps they could improve the software's UI design to allow for easier navigation and use, especially for new users.

PROS: OutSystems is a user-friendly software that allows us to create integrations more efficiently. It also provides a way for us to effectively use RESTful web services. Its deployment and visual development environments are excellent. Overall, it makes our work easier and enables us to deliver results faster.

CONS: This software would work for us better if we could use it while working offline. While it is not an inherent disadvantage, its complete reliance on Internet connection is one thing that we would like to see change in its future versions.

PROS: This facilitates homepage development and software implementation for our company. It allows us to work with attributes and acquire services through Forge. It helps us reduce the cost of our processes and works with us to ensure that our business operates smoothly and efficiently.

CONS: We would appreciate if their support team would be more responsive and would provide us with status updates more often. We also would like to see OutSystems add features for co-development in its future versions.

PROS: We are able to see ideas develop and materialize fast with OutSystems. It shortened the amount of time we used to spend in developing applications and we are now able to use that time to reach our target market.

CONS: It can be quite a challenge to get customers on board given the price of OutSystems' license.

PROS: OutSystems is a user-friendly software. It speeds up the process of developing apps for our company. We can easily train new employees to use it. They provide developers with a great number of learning materials. They also have a very helpful online community.

CONS: We would have a better experience with this software if modifications would be made to its tables and columns feature. Specifically, we want to be able to delete and easily re-add tables and columns when necessary. This would make it easier for us to migrate data using OutSystems.

PROS: OutSystems is a secure and reliable platform for creating applications. It allows users to use forge components and custom codes. Learning how to use and navigate it is easy. There are many resources about product use online and developers may even opt to take a certification program for this platform.

CONS: There are features in this platform's previous version that are not present in the current one, including its analytics feature and SEO site rules. It also currently doesn't support cross-platform application development. It is costly to acquire certification programs for this platform and there aren't many job opportunities where it will be useful.

PROS: This software enabled us to develop our company applications despite our lack of experience in coding. It makes deploying apps and fixing bugs fast and trouble-free for us.

CONS: There is a lot of room for improvement in this software's visual approach. The same is true for the company's marketing strategy. We think they need to present their product in ways that will be more appealing for enthusiasts. At the same time, they need to make it more affordable so more companies will be able to acquire it. Lastly, transitioning from using this software into another may become an issue for developers as they will need to reacquaint themselves to other programming languages.

PROS: Being an old time c# coder, I like how I can now concentrate on resolving business issues as opposed to technical ones. I won't have to worry about low-level things and dependencies. TrueChange has been exceptional. I have no issues to refractor, transferring methods, and cleaning up other things. Mainteannce is really fun to do.

CONS: Being a lowcode software, it's missing some functionality. But those are typically edge cases. Versioning could have a bit of loving through check-in comments, but that's just me nitpicking things. As long as the whole process doesn't entail the traditional IDE, I manage other negative things about it. There's no other perfect software compared to this.

PROS: I don't know where to begin. Its capacity in developling and implementing a full stack quickly and simply is nothing I've ever seen. Furthermore, its TrueChange tab lets you seek out where the bugs are found. Publishing won't be cleared unless everything is resolved and it ensures mistakes won't lead to harming your application. I've been heavily involved in platform 10 development and it offline and mobile functionality are great.

CONS: The biggest probelm with Outsystem is not having a robust and advanced data grids. Grids are alright in looking after basic and intermediate needs. But if you want something that harnesses the power of KendoUI, you'll need to find another option elsewhere.

PROS: The platform was really flexible. It met the needs customers regardless of their requirement complexities. Developers were able to cater to the demands swiftly while promoting knowledge and reusability. Outsystems and their developer community has a plethora of knowledge. This offered plenty of pre-made apps from the Outsystems Forge. These can then be utilized jumpstart an application or for reference purposes.

CONS: It's easy to get started with the platform. But it took longer than I thought in getting to know some of its intricate patterns.

PROS: There are a number of things I favor with Outsystems. Their pre-installed manager; feedback manager; forum and forge community; and customer support has been excellent. But what I love most is the quickness of delivering a product to each customer. It's nothing short of amazing. My colleague and I were able to deliver functional application to our client in a couple days!

CONS: There are certain things that I don't favor with Outsystems. The biggest gripe I had with it is that I had to do everything their way. The platform offers plenty of freedom and ability to get into every nook and cranny of your application. But there have been instances where I would've done things in a certain manner. It's not really a bad thing to do it their way though.

PROS: One good thing with this platform is that everything can easily be done. By getting rid of the tricky aspects of all sites/apps, it gives developers a chance to concentrate on more serious problems. Instead of looking through endless pages of code, operation modular blocks are available. They're easy to comprehend. Anyone with a traditional code can be added in if they want to.

CONS: After using OutSystems, it's difficult to settle for other tools. This includes working on extensions in linking the Agile Platform to outer libraries. Even if debugging native quality rules may trigger issues to developers who aren't used to a good code, it could take a bit of time in correcting such poor habits.

PROS: When dealing with clients utilizing an OutSystems software, I'm able to quickly be familiar with their current applications. That means being productive from the start. The reason is because of its low-code and visual nature of OutSystems applications. I love how OutSystems is able to get me to write varying layers of code in an application. That includes the UI, integrations, logic, and database.

CONS: The only thing that frustrated me if you wanted to deal with a certain change to a specific system part, you'll be tasked to make a system inquiry to showcase differences between previous several versions in order to see it. But having the right project controls/documentation shouldn't make this an issue though.

PROS: OutSystem hs plenty of advantages. Its learning curve is relatively low, which led to simpler adoption for both semi- and full-time developers. We're no longer utilizing paper prototypes as it's way simpler to do all that on OutSystems in helping the product take shape. It carries out a platform-based way in administering low/medium complex applications. After investing training and set up, results poured in at record rate.

CONS: There some disadvantages working with Outsystems. You'll need to surrender certain control on its infrastructure when opting for its cloud-hosted model. This is often seen in a majority of PasS solutions. Their Change Management needs further improvement. Customer support needs to improve in timeliness and assistance.

PROS: The thing that I like most is how you're able to quickly deliver products to a customer. This is especially true if you needed to make modifications for a program. Our customers came away impressed with the quickness of delivery. I think that's one of the best things customers would feel most. Using Outsystem has been really great.

CONS: For instance, certain functionality and operations are so housed tightly it becomes difficult to do things the way you'd see it previously. Often times, I'd have to look up a problem in a forum to find the right answer.

PROS: It's really simple in kicking things off. What's more, it's a lot easier to gain more experience with this software. As an engineer with years of experience, you can accomplish just about anything you can by crafting JavaScript or C#. It lets you extend the tool by letting you write out Java or C# or JavaScript. OutSystems provides free access to a more personalized development environment within the cloud so you can learn how to develop your own apps and utilze the tool fully.

CONS: If there's anything to hate, it's their costly licensing costs. Medium and large-scale businesses won't really find this to be a big issue. But for small businesses, they can forget using this tool especially when a license for Oracle, MSSQL, IIS, or Windows is required. I've seen a lot of IT professionals who can't wait to use the tool due the benefits it's offering. But their excitement drops off when learning about its licensing costs.
