PaintShop Pro Review

PROS: I like the interface, very user-friendly. Also, there are a plethora of awesome and easy to use tools for image editing! Unlike most of the popular photo editing apps, Paintshop Pro is very straightforward. You don't have to spend a significant amount of time learning how it works. It's great for novices.

CONS: I hate having to go through the oversee tabs to get into my workspace. Also, launching the app sometimes takes time.

PROS: Truth be told, nothing beats Photoshop when it comes to professional photo editing. Paintshop Pro may not be a peer-to-peer competition with the said program but it also helps you get your job done. It is powerful enough to be compatible with 360-degree cameras. It also offers interesting and really helpful tools like face detection technology and capabilities to optimize photos for web use. And compared to Photoshop, it is more straightforward and easy to use. It has a dynamic and simple interface. Lastly, it is less costly.

CONS: It does not have a Macromedia Fireworks feature, which is a tool exclusively dedicated to the web. But since this tool is, I think, more for the design and not specifically for optimizing images for web use, this is understandable. But it would be better if the said tool will be made available.

PROS: The interface is great and simpler than most of popular image editing software. Also, there are many incredible and easy to use tools. Once you master the tools, you sure can get awesome results.

CONS: I find their offers for upgrading the product to the latest version unappealing. I do not expect to spend more money just a few months after buying the software. Also, there are pop up ads which gradually become annoying.

PROS: It's AI face recognition is just lit! The app uses face detection technology to organize photos automatically. I also love the auto edit options. It lets you improve the quality of pictures with so much ease.

CONS: I actually cannot think of a drawback right now. The app for me is generally great - easy to use, feature-packed, and affordable. It's a pretty good tool to use if you don't have Photoshop.

PROS: Paintshop Pro offers many interesting features like tools for retouching images, enhancing photo qualities, options to view thumbnails of photos in a folder, the ability to work with layers, etc. There's even a tool for improving the image with just one step, which is very useful for starters. The interface is intuitive, making it way easier to utilize the available features. And if you're just starting to use the app, you can seek guidance from the knowledge base available. You can get tips and tricks to get the most out of the product.

CONS: It meets my needs and works perfectly well so there are no cons for me. But if you are a professional graphics designer who needs more advanced features, I think this tool wouldn't be a perfect choice.

PROS: One of the best things about Paintshop Pro is the fast rendering process. I don't have to wait for hours just to save a huge file, which was the case when I use one of the most popular image editing apps in the market today. The app itself, as well as the files in it, also loads quite fast and I love it. The speed has been a big help in improving my workflow.

CONS: What I don't like comes down to aspiring for more default filters after the initial app installation deployment. Sure, it would be somehow nice to have that. However, in real life, it's a minor drawback. Nevertheless, it's easy to solve.

PROS: First, it is affordable. Second, it offers many tools for photo editing, raw or basic editing, and many more. It seems like the provider has implemented practically all their knowledge on image editing on this tool.

CONS: For me, the biggest drawback of this tool is the lack of CMYK support. The only CMYK function is exporting to CMYK tiff. You have to do all your editing work in RGB. Even the files you archive has to be in RGB.

PROS: This photo editor comes with an intuitive and user-friendly interface as well as incredible tools that you can use to make images look better and professional. I specifically like the one-step photo fix functionality which, as its name implies, improves images in just one step as well as the browse option which lets you see the previews of all images in a folder. Also, there are functions for adding effects and working with layers. And the final output can be saved in different file formats of your choice. For new users, this tool also offers easy to understand tutorials.

CONS: Some of the available tools like brush and cloning need some updates. Other than that, everything works well.

PROS: With the variety of photo editing tools this app offers, you can already come up with attractive compositions. The best thing, it is way more affordable than Adobe Photoshop. So if you are looking for a good image editing tools but don't have enough money for Photoshop, Paintshop Pro is a good choice. Additionally, it provides tools that make image editing easier such as the filter seats and templates.

CONS: Paintshop Pro is generally a good photo editor but if you will compare it to Adobe Photoshop, the features and tools it offers are still limited. Also, the tools are not as professional as Photoshop tools. But if you only need to do simple editing, it is perfect. It also works on different devices and consumes fewer resources.

PROS: Its interface is really nice. It has two tabs - the edit tab and the manages tab. The latter features view EXIF data, rate images and search for faces which makes organizing photos easier. The app generally offers several features good enough to be able to produce great-looking images. You can even do advanced image editing. I think it would make a good alternative to the famous Photoshop.

CONS: It is not compatible with macOS. Since I'm not using Apple products, it's not a big deal for me.

PROS: It's cheaper than Photoshop but can still compete with it. It offers many tools, choices, and possibilities. It had tools for image correction such as panorama and perspective. It also comes with a dual help system which is useful.

CONS: It can open multi-layer Adobe Photoshop files but cannot handle the layers' property. Sometimes, some layers are even missing. Also, this app's help system is quite complex. But it wasn't a big deal since it's easy to find a solution to this. Lastly, the tool does not include the user names even if you already pay for the license use.

PROS: It lets you edit like a professional. Almost everything you'd probably need to make a photo look stunning is already here like the color adjustment or correction options, broad array of filters, gradients, and many more. With the tools available, you can edit photos and more! Also, it supports several file formats so you can save your work to the format you need. I also love the ability to be my work on my computer with PSP and open it in Photoshop for extra editing.

CONS: I feel like the recent software updates just made the product difficult to use. The launching time of the app has been pretty slow. Also, with the recent version, you already have to go through to manage tabs to get to your workspace. I like its version 5 better. It's pretty easy to use. Also, the masking tool moves quite slow. It would be great if it will be improved.

PROS: Paintshop Pro has been my "go-to" photo editor for nearly two decades now. I just love its simplicity as well as powerful graphic design tools. And compared to Adobe products, I find PSP easier to use. Also, I find it more user-friendly and powerful than CorelDraw. The available tools are so extensive and right now I probably only able to use 50 percent of what it offers. On top of that, it is way more affordable than Adobe products.

CONS: While there are many tutorials and guides available online, they are not as comprehensive as I expect them to be. And whenever I search YouTube for tutorials, I often get different results. Google seems to misinterpret what I want to search. Also, the version of PSP I am using sometimes does not import .png files properly. But I've already fixed it by using a 3rd party app to correct the format.

PROS: We have used this photo editing software for a long time and I love its straightforwardness and ease of use. It's perfect for beginners and medium-skilled users. But for more advanced editing, I think this tool will not be sufficient. I have heard Photoshop is good for professional and experienced photo editors so I guess that software would be better if you'll be doing more complex editing.

CONS: The app occasionally crashes and it's quite frustrating especially when it happens when I'm working on a project. Good thing, the app automatically saves your work so you can easily recover it after restarting the app.

PROS: Great for people looking to create quality and stunning composition. The app works seamlessly on devices of your choice and offers a number of great features such as the face detection technology and a slicer tool which makes editing easier. It also support a number of file formats including but not limited to PDF, PNG, JPEG, RAW, PNG and more.

CONS: Paintshop Pro is generally an awesome program. There are just a few small things that it lacks. For example, I had options to put in additional scripts as well as predefined choices and work with gifs and a wider method.

PROS: Most of the tools available in this software are similar to what Adobe Photoshop offers. But PSP is less costly and easier to use than the latter solution.

CONS: The updates are not often as Adobe. Also, the features are not as comprehensive as Adobe. It would be nice if more tools, even if not as good as Photoshop, will be added.

PROS: If you're looking for a powerful image editing software that is not confusing and costly, Paintshop Pro is the app for you. The interface is simple and the tools are easy to use. Great app for novices or those who are overwhelmed using other leading platforms like Photoshop. There are also online tutorials to help you get started.

CONS: It introduces features a bit late. For instance, the Element Quick Selection tools are available in Photoshop for years now but PaintShop Pro just introduces the selection tools which automatically tracks object's curves in images in the recent updates. It's a great addition but it would be better if they introduce more revolutionary features. Aside from that, I wish they let users customize the icons so we get a more personalized experience. Lastly, I had problems with 64 OS PNG files in the system background selection.
