What Problems Will ProShop Solve?

A. Connecting the office and shop floor: Mary is a machinist on the shop floor. She is running a job and discovers a flaw in the fixturing which increase the chance of loading the product wrong, leading to scrap. Instead of having to leave her workstation to tell the shift lead, or the programmer for the job to fix it, she clicks on the “Process Development” tab for the Part Number and records the issue she has found, and even propose a solution. This immediately sends an automated system message to Chris, the programmer who is the appropriate person to fix the issue. Chris can address the problem with a workflow process to move the issue through to resolution, even proposing multiple possible solutions, all with the ability to add photos and documentation. until a solution is found and implemented with a permanent record of the improvement activity.

Saving Overworked Planners: John is a planner/project manager and is perpetually overworked, responsible for too many jobs at a time and not able to keep track of all the details using legacy systems. ProShop has amazing tools to visually show John all the jobs he is responsible for and the status of all the relevant items he needs to handle. He can quickly and easily survey the jobs he needs to take care of, put them in a shopping cart and issue purchase requests with just a few mouse clicks. His dashboards will be instantly updated and will continue to be updated as further work is completed by other people on those jobs. If John is still too overworked and jobs are at risk of being late, his manager Linda can see the status of his jobs and re-assign some of them to another planner, keeping the jobs on track and customers happy with on-time delivery.

C. Preparing Document Packages for Customer Deliveries: In paper based systems, keeping track of all the relevant documentation required with a delivery is messy, time consuming and very error prone. Michael in the final inspection department could only process 1-4 jobs per day with their old paper based ERP system. With ProShop’s paperless workflow, all inbound paperwork from vendors, and customers is immediately scanned into the right locations in ProShop. Based on specific client preferences, all of these documents and internal inspection reports are validated for completeness and collated automatically, even for multi-level BOM assemblies. Complex packages that used to take Michael hours to prepare, and still with high chance of errors, now takes only minutes with 100% quality guaranteed. Michael can now process 10-20 document packages per day and the company hasn’t had a single documentation rejection in months.

PROS: Going paperless using ProShop was a huge step forward in the development of our company. ProShop has extremely good controls to monitor everything that is going on in our shop from a single computer screen. It allows us to know where all of our jobs are at, keep better controls of our process and inventory levels. It also enables us to focus on optimizing our throughput and keeping our on-time delivery high. The fact that it also includes a fully integrated QMS to manage our AS9100 system is of paramount importance. It is a very effective and low cost way to manage quality compared to a paper based system.

CONS: When we are doing intensive work it can get a bit slow at times of day. But the guys at Adion are going to release a completely new back end in 2017 that will eliminate this issue, they tell us.
