What is Wrike?

Wrike is an award-winning software for online project management that was designed with a single goal: to improve the speed and efficiency of work in both co-located and distributed groups. It is a winner of FinancesOnline Best Project Management Software Award for 2016. The flexibility provided by Wrike enables multifunctional groups to collaborate and get things done effectively from a single location. The service allows you to schedule, prioritize, discuss, and keep track of both work and progress in real time — all with just a few clicks of the mouse.

Wrike has been the project management software of choice for many Fortune 500 companies, such as, Google, Stanford University, Adobe, HTC, and EA Sports to mention a few.

A detailed review of Wrike prepared by our experts is also available with a thorough analysis of Wrike capabilities and features. You can also read a Chinese version of Wrike review here.

Overview of Wrike Benefits

All Wrike reviews confirm that this solution is loaded with business collaboration and information management features that will take your business a higher level. Benefits of using Wrike include:

  • Having just one hub for all of your work.
  • User-friendly navigation which makes things easy for you and your teams.
  • Excellent security measures are in place to ensure that no one other than authorized personnel can access the information and other files stored in your online database.
  • With mobile apps, you can easily track and monitor progress from your mobile phones anytime, anywhere.

3-Pane Project View Provides Important Data at a Glance

Wrike’s 3-pane layout lets you view important data on one screen, giving clear visibility on project operations. The details of all projects are on one page enabling you to quickly work on tasks. The left pane shows the project hierarchy allowing you to work on subtasks or move across different projects. The middle pane shoes the project’s task list. The right pane shows task details. You can do the following tasks from within the 3-pane view: ask for updates from your team members, prioritize tasks, communicate with your team members, and monitor and control work progress.

Tags and Folders Help You View and Share Project Data

Wrike gives you the ability to put an item in different folders without duplication. Wrike’s tags and folders enable you to view or sort data by tasks, projects, or any other way. You can name the folders based on how you want to sort data. The important thing is a task can be grouped in many folders but it is not duplicated. It stays as a single file and all changes in the task are reflected in all its folders. You can also use the tags and folders to share tasks with other teams and your clients.

Use Activity Stream and @mention to Engage Your Team

The Activity Stream enables project managers to see the big picture as well as micro-manage small tasks. The Stream pane and its widget in the Dashboard show your team’s activities. All shared activities can be seen in chronological order. Plus, you can unfollow activities to de-clutter the Stream. The main advantage is all your team members can view each other’s activity progress. You can use the @mention feature to draw attention to specific issues. The recipients get notified in their Stream and are automatically tagged as followers of the task discussion. This way, all your team members can a get a full view of what’s being discussed.

Task Tool Helps You Track Individual and Overall Progress

One of this Wrike review highlights is the ease with which this solution lets you break projects into small tasks. Subtasks can be further broken down into specific activities. Each activity can be marked as complete or incomplete which gives you an accurate picture of unresolved tasks. This makes it easy to manage and focus on smaller subtasks. The task tool helps to identify bottlenecks that hold up a project’s progress. The task timeline helps you to prioritize important tasks. To clarify a task, you can attach files, show pictures or tables, and cross-link to other tasks. In short, subtasks give you a clear idea of how much work needs to be done, by whom, and by when.

Excellent Analytics for Easy Reporting

Wrike’s powerful analytics helps you easily create reports to show to your company’s top executives as well as stakeholders. You can generate Global Reports that show the tasks from all your folders. The report shows project data in eight categories. The Performance Chart gives a visual look at how your project tasks are coming along against their deadline over a time graph. This graph helps you estimate individual and team work pace as well as project completion date. The Folder Statistics on the right pane of a project folder shows important task metrics like status and due date, on a weekly basis.

Powerful Integrations for Painless Data Migration

With the large list of meaningful integrations Wrike has to offer, your team’s needs for undisturbed task management will be completely covered. To start with, you have the impeccable email integration allowing you to create, assign, or edit documents directly from a preferred email account. Secondly, you get to use your Google Apps Marketplace credentials to access the system, and the powerful Google Drive connection to collaborate with other team members, attach and send files easily. The list, however, doesn’t end here: Wrike functions flawlessly with Jira, Dropbox, MS Project, Zapier, Salesforce, and many other apps that are important for your business workflow.

Collaboration Features for Creative Teams

How many times have you struggled with administrative difficulties to the extent of missing your creative flow? From now on, Wrike will dedicate an entire set of its amazing features to creative marketing teams that want to skip, or at least simplify their administrative burden. A single request will be enough to trigger a creative journey, and manage tasks rapidly and accurately. The Wrike requests will be available via URL so that even non-Wrike users can access them, and will support file uploading for better visibility and context clarity.

Audit Reports for Enterprise-Grade Users

Another powerful innovation by Wrike are enterprise-grade audit reports, allowing the admin to track both individual and group activities to prevent data breaches and any other type of malicious activity. The feature is now adjusted to Enterprise customers, who can launch an audit report to examine internal and external threats, and protect their data and their operations. These reports are handiest for tracking and clarifying group lifecycle changes, keeping actions accountable even when performed from a different location, and projecting permissions to intervene in every operation.

Advanced Forms and Requests

Our Wrike review also showed that the vendor invested serious efforts to simplify and prioritize work requests for teams heaped with emails, chats, and meetings. Unclear work priorities are the most common reason for inaccurate and complex management, and that’s exactly what Wrike’s forms aim to eliminate: they shorten the time needed to complete a project, reduce costly errors, miscommunication, and rework, and improve progress visibility for your main stakeholders. There are also many easy-to-customize requests, such as New Project Requests, Issue/Change Requests, Proposals, Creative Briefs, and so on, which you can use to standardize the submission process, and to shorten the time needed to begin working.

Organizations have unqiue needs and requirements and no software application can be just right in such a scenario. It is futile to try to find a perfect off-the-shelf software app that meets all your business requirements. The intelligent thing to do would be to modify the solution for your specific requirements, employee skill levels, finances, and other factors. For these reasons, do not hasten and subscribe to well-publicized leading systems. Though these may be widely used, they may not be the perfect fit for your particular requirements. Do your research, check out each short-listed application in detail, read a few Wrike reviews, call the vendor for clarifications, and finally settle for the app that provides what you need.

Pros:
I like that Wrike helps me to stay on track of all the tasks and to organize them, it reminds me to accomplish the things I need to get done by due dates and priority. It is a flexible tool that can be used by any kind of business because it helps you to keep the team together and connected during the projects, it allows you to assign tasks to other members.

Cons:
They could make the layout of Wrike more intuitive because it can be little hard to learn it at the beginning.

Pros:
I like that I’m able to invite any contact so they can contribute to a project. Its UI is intuitive and it doesn’t require much time to learn how it functions. It allows lot of ways to view the tasks in a timeline and in a project, and this means that different users will get the information that is most relevant to them.

Cons:
When dealing with numerous projects the deeper views and settings can be very complex. It is great tool but it has some complexity when it comes to multiple projects.

Wrike is my preferred project management software. It’s extremely easy to use and has more features than any other program out there. I need to be able to see 100 different things in 50 different ways all while keeping it simple, clean, and organized. Wrike does this flawlessly. My favorite features include the Gantt chart, workload view, timelines, collaboration with Outlook and Office 365, and time tracking. The only thing I sometimes struggle with in Wrike is loading time, but with how much it can do, it makes total sense why it sometimes lags a little.

I would be lost without Wrike. I tried the other big names and they had too much stuff that I didn’t need that got in my way. Wrike is elegant and easy to use but contains all the tools I need. The Gannt charts are perfect and make my projects look just as professional as the people using the expensive software.

We are using Wrike over 2 years. I find it flexible and powerful, tasks can be easily categorized to allow you to handle your work in a variety of ways.
Wrike is very useful tool for managing projects and tasks which makes your work easier and more effective and it helps the department in our company to keep organized. The communication between other departments in our company is much better and helps to get things done more effectively. The email to task function and the google chrome integration are perfect goodies. In dashboard you have a perfect overview to all assigned, to do and overdue tasks and in activity stream you get news about the work that is done in your team. Wrike is improving continually and over time they have developed many new features in order to achieve better efficiency. Best of all, they take user feedbacks to make their changes. I’m looking for new ideas, they will surely come up with.

We have tried a few different Project Management Websites. First was Basecamp, simple and clean, but we wanted more. Tracky was buggy and continually changing their system and personality. Wrike was more expensive, but you do get what you pay for, and what you get is well worth it.

Wrike came with the features we wanted. Email support, so you can respond to tasks inside emails. Task sharing with those that are outside the organization. A UI that is easy to understand. Cloud storage and document support.

Wrike is also very reliable, it just works. Other software we tried was just to buggy and temperamental, it doesn’t matter how many features you have if they don’t work when the customer tries to use them (I’m looking at you Tracky, Microsoft, software developers in general).

It’s been over a year since we began using Wrike, and they continue to improve and and value. They also respond to the community and add much asked about features, i.e. Sub-Tasks. Their user interface gets easier to use with each update, thank you dashboard and descendent-tasks.

I do wish that Wrike included more user accounts for our level. It’s hard to figure out if a person is a “User” (able to create tasks) or just a “Collaborator”. And I would like them to have add the ability to have external bug task creation.

Summary: Wrike is worth the money, the system makes since to users, they are adding great features with each update, and have great customer support and documentation. Spend the money and get software that really helps you and your team work better.

We’ve been using it for about 6 months and I’ve never worked with such ease when it comes to tasks and projects. Its collaborative and customizable features make it very effective and easy to use. The reports you can generate to see how your workflow is working is great. Dashboards help you visualize the tasks you want to keep at hand.

We are using Wrike to quickly turn notes into activities and build on the current methods to do a continuous improvement of the processes that were in place before the PMO mindset settled in. Wrike has allowed us to collaborate with ease and to be able to communicate expectations quickly not only internally but also to external contributors. The multidimensional aspect of the folders comes in very handy when your projects are long and transversal on scope and resources. It is very convenient and being allowed to interact directly from the Gannt is a big win.

We’ve used Wrike for a couple of years. Wrike is a flexible project management tool that encourages information sharing among your team. We use it for our IT department and use it to track both our service work and our projects.
One thing I especially like is their support team, when I come to them with questions that usually go beyond in their response. Taking the time to share idea on how we can make Wrike work better for us.
The biggest challenge is getting deep enough into the use that the benefits come, it is too easy with any project management tool to use it after the fact, to use it only as a time tracking system. I find the strong communication functionality of Wrike helps your team get past this issue.

Before using Wrike, my company had no system flow or software to track the series of projects that were completed. This made it so that things fell through the cracks and pieces that were important to compliance weren’t there. After implementing Wrike we have been able to have cohesive collaboration in all of our process. Increasing our productivity and insuring compliance in all fields. Wrike has been a great tool to help manage and communicate. I wish there was more functionality to the the professional version but it has been able to get is from the negative to a positive and now we can grow.

Wrike contains all the necessary elements (and then some) for a project manager to manage multi-project at one time and know the status of each project. Wrike significantly reduces the risk of tasks falling through the cracks that can result in delays in product roll-out to production and the market it serves. Wrike also provide easy accessibility to information on a project in real time through mobile devices. The one thing I like about Wrike the most is their customer service (value-added) and their consistent improvements to their software based on customer input.

It’s cons are complicated UI and time entry system. Hopefully Wrike team will look into this issue and they will provide something more simple.

After using several different programs to track new products and customization projects, we have found Wrike to be a very efficient solution for our entire company. In Wrike, we are able to set up and assign tasks necessary to complete projects, we can project completion dates thanks to the gantt chart and are able to store vital information in such a way that it is easy to access in the future. Currently the e-Learning Content Department is the primary user of Wrike, but it is accessible by the management team, sales, engineering, and customer service which allows us to communicate and collaborate company wide.

Wrike Pros:

Gantt chart — This helps with projects that are complex and require various tasks or phases to be completed in order to develop a final project. We simply could not plan product releases effectively without this!

Folders — Organization is incredibly important when managing projects for several different facets (customer-driven, sales-driven, marketing-driven, etc) and the fact that I can manipulate and move projects into different folders helps me watch a project as it travels through our “workflow” from inception to delivery.

Tasks — Not only developing unlimited tasks and sub-tasks with deadlines, but also being able to assign them to different people within our teams has allowed us to have a central point to work from. I highly appreciate the ability to duplicate folders with their included tasks as our workflow is often repeated for similar projects.

Wrike Cons:

I would like to see different statuses saved in different folders. Instead, the status is changed and it affects all folders globally. This has caused me some confusion or irritation at times.

With sub-tasks, I find myself wishing that changing a tasks’ deadline would also change the subtasks’ deadlines. When I push things forward or backward with the Gantt chart, I then have to go into each subtask and adjust them as well. Sometimes, it seems easier to make everything tasks so I can use the cause/effect of dependencies.

Duration can be confusing at times given that sometimes a task will take a bit of time daily over several days, but not necessarily all day. Group several tasks like that together and planning resources becomes difficult because you cannot distinguish how much ACTUAL time on a given day is needed for a particular project. I find myself planning by dates and not durations. I think if there were a way to use these independently, that would be helpful.

This is a very helpful tool that helps the offices to maintain in the same page according to the projects they have on queue it helps to those that actually use it to be more organized on their schedules.
At the beginning it can be difficult to learn how to use, but now with the new features and images is becoming easier.

I have used it, and i think is really helpful but it requires the disposition of my whole team to use it in order for it to work, because other wise it is too much work for just one person to keep updating all the info on it.

I’ve been using the app for a year now and it meets my requiremets for all small business contractor projects. Pros: it helps me coordinate the day-to-day, weekly, and monthly goals. Real-time updates greatly diminish the risk of of assumptions and everyone is more accountable. Specifically, as a project leader, I like the simplicity of dashboards that my team leaders can create with this app. With drag-and-drop and board functions it’s easy to track the progress of each team’s progress. This helps me to quickly assess our overall performance with one glance. At the same time, by double clicking the board, I can drill down to details and activities of a specific team. The software combines macro and micro functions that let project leaders to shift from using strategic to tactical solutions and back. Cons: Ironically, I feel the board dashboard could have used a high-level view structure that can handle multiple layers of teams and subteams. It works for me for now because I only have one vertical, but for bigger projects with subteams down the line, the boards can easily get clunky.

A really nice PM tools which helps the user for their task integration. However it should be more user friendly. It requires a lot of time to get familiar with. However apart from that all other features are good. Email notification and mobile app are awesome.

Wrike is a really comprehensive tool for Time Management and Task Management. It is user friendly and offers a great amount of options for those tasks that require extra information. Being a deadline driven company, Wrike has helped our team be sure to meet all deadlines on time and effectively communicate to the field.

We’re a software vendor that focuses on custom enterprise solutions. We’re better off using non-core systems developed by others to remain efficient, focusing our attention instead on our custom offers. We really love Wrike because it helps us to implement a project management architecture right away. Pros: We love its features. We don’t have multi-tiered and complex dependencies, so Wrike’s straightforward task management and file management systems fit our needs. Email integration is handy and the dashboard feature is simple but useful. I also like the desktop notifications (they pop up in the corner), which make sure messages are not missed. We also have less than 15 members in our team so the pricing is just right. Cons: cannot brand customize the workspace. It doesn’t sound a major issue for other businesses, but in our industry (enterprise solutions) we look awkward and small time to be seen using other company’s software even if the app is not our core development area.

Wrike is a really good tool, better than other project management tools available in the market but it needs some improvements for reoccurring tasks support. For reoccurring task it is minimal & for a technical content meetings things are updated every week.

It’s hands down one of the simplest project management software to use. For companies like mine with weekly project turnarounds, ease-of-use is critical; you can’t lose a week just training people! The pros include: drag-and-drop functions are no-brainer. I just move the to-do boards across my schedule instead of copy-pasting data in a calendar or spreadsheet. Project updates and statuses are also drag-and-drop enabled, which makes grouping notices in one place as easy as dragging them beside each other. The @mention tool is also very practical to instantly get the attention of your recipients. Cons include: I’m a fan of Gantt charts since my MS Project days, but, admittedly, Wrike’s Gantt charts are way behind. If you’re not into this charting though this drawback won’t matter.

Wrike is the best project management tool I have used so far. We have tested numerous PM tools and were using Intervals for the last 2 years but then I got to know about Wrike. The experience of using it was great. The pros are: 1. Easy to use UI. 2. Availability on all popular platforms like iOS & Android. 3. Easy to create tasks and tagging people within the tasks. 4. Addons available for outlook & chrome. Cons: 1. There should be support for re-occurring tasks.

Wrike serves me very well, team emails can be done and manage easily. Working in a project becomes very easy and convenient when you have a great tool like this. The security measures is excellent, it only allows the recipient to get the necessary information. Team communication and updates are conveniently done.

What I like: – The ability to create as many projects/folders/tags as necessary – The dynamic Gantt-chart which allows you to set dependencies between tasks and adjusts with a click and drag – Numerous reporting options – Excellent support – Custom dashboards to monitor projects. What I dislike: – Custom calendars for employees are currently only available in the Enterprise edition, which is more costly – Activity stream can get cluttered quite quickly, meaning some information gets lost unless you are @mentioned This is the best project management software our studio has come across. Highly recommended

Great project management app that helps me stay up-to-date with my work progress. Pros: advanced reporting, gantt chart and dashboard – all I need to efficiently manage my projects Cons: I’d really appreciate task reminders and a more robust Google Calendar integration.
