Sauce Labs provides free testing version

What are the best aspects of this product?

What I love about Sauce Labs is the fact that offers free version for testing open source projects (of course with limited resources). It provides great integration with Travis-CI and there are adapters for all types of JS test runners. So I choose SL for my JuiceShop projects, and I am able to get my tests run on multiple browsers and OS combinations. Also, I am provided with full end-to-end test suite that is written on Sauce Labs with Protractor execute.

What aspects are problematic or could work better?

Sometimes tunnels don’t come up and tests fail mostly on first run. I think this is because of the free VMs that you get as open source project testing.

What specific problems in your company were solved by this product?

My site can be used for security trainings, workshops, classes or as awareness demos. It has more than 25 vulnerabilities so it can be exploit and fulfill some challenges that are easily tracked on scoreboard. By running end-to-end tests I know that the whole functionality starting from logging in, placing products in the cart, to purchasing order, works well. By using this product I make sure that my site works as it should, without the need to run them all the time and to push the change to some development branch. The tests take no more than 2min and I don’t need to pause my work on the laptop in order to run them.
