What is Sublime Text?

Sublime Text is a proprietary, cross-platform text editor developed for individuals who are looking for an effective yet minimalist tool for shuffling code around. Sublime Text certainly comes really bare, flaunting no toolbars or configuration dialogs. But it is fast as it simple, which is only skin deep. A further look inside the hood reveales a very powerful text editor loaded with in plug-ins, clever auto-completion features, and more.

PROS: I love the fact that you can see different pacakges to help improve the editor's already potent offerings. Theme variations, gutter/sidebar features, icons, code highlighting, and new shortcuts help add to the workflow of developers while enhancing efficiency.

CONS: I find it a negative for the editor not being completely optimized for QHD+ screens. As a user operating on a 4k screen, the scaling would've been much better. But other than that, you can always make workflow adjustments and keybinds to mesh with your development preferences.

PROS: I love how the editor has the capability of having almost all shortcuts vim is offering. As a person moving from a highly dominant linux of vi and vim, I find this tool reliable. It's also perfect for highlighting syntax. I frequently code java & c, and this editor handles them both well.

CONS: I was hardly comfortable with the given themes. It would've been a good thing if someone possessing a decent UI background can get to work and provide some nice themes for Sublime. I feel the idea at present is to try to make it as close as what may have been utilizing earlier.

PROS: It's simple enough to handle. You can make customizations to achieve better coding. You can install a plethora of packages on it to enhance your development capabilities. Its UI is easy on the eyes. You're also given the ability to divide the column of Sublime text to watch for codes you're currently working on.

CONS: If you lack the package to help with your work, this editor on its own won't offer you the kind of performance you're expecting. It's also closed source, meaningi you'll have to pay for it.

PROS: The interface is so easy to use. Sections/columns can be done at the same time. Easy switching from one project to the next. Seeking/opening current or new projects can be done with "GoTo Anything." The "distraction-free" mode is ideal if you don't want interrruptions while coding.

CONS: Sublime Text can copyright and shields its code. It takes up time uploading bigger-sized files. It would appear that the indentation on specific breaks/lines isn't as consistent as originally thought. Preferences won't remain preset. Rows, columns, and other things require manual manipulation whenever you open it.

PROS: It's super light on PC resources. With the mixture of proper plug-ins it can be IDE-like. Really simple to modify. It makes everything manageable. Lots of plug-ins available for you to use and play around with.

CONS: The nagging to upgrade to the full version can be annoying. It's never an open-source. It would've been better if it as the opposite. That way, people can contribute. Package Control should be built within.

PROS: I love how this editor came with a pre-installed Python for plugin development. Sublime Text comes bundled with hundreds of plugins. I even managed to write in a few. It comes with a small interaface capable of downloading plugins within the editor itself. I love you can simply select text in columns instead of being limited to rows. It also has the ability to keep my doc sessions open.

CONS: It lacks hooks or a debugger within the UI for a debugger setup. But I feel it shouldn't be the case since it's only meant to be a text editor.

PROS: Sublime Text will only showcase what your needs are. It's robust thanks to its options and other functionality. Thing is, everything is stowed away in menus. It's not the same as other platforms that squeezes everything in a single screen. It's limited to you and the code itself.

CONS: The sad part about this that it buries a lot in its menus. It takes a good memory to remember where everything is stashed. Way too many keyboard shortcuts. It takes time in getting the right key combination. FTP plug-ins won't work.

PROS: Sublime Text is recommended to do edits on JavaScript, HTML, and CSS codes. It comes bundled with plugins for the purpose of programming other languages. Installation was a breeze. It doesn't entail having great PC specs to run this since it's light on resources. Recommended for web development.

CONS: One particular issue is the emmet and plugin installation. Plugin configuration is difficult to handle. It's a must to have an experience with the editor to deal with this problem. The design of the publisher could use some improvement.

PROS: It's a plugin-based editor that's highly customizable. You'll no longer be trapped with in an development environment mushed with overwhelming features you'll end up notusing. You'll completely drop IDE to the ground with this one.

CONS: It's a bit challenging to get started. It would nice to have some sort of pop-up balloons containing tips to help users push further time and again so they can get accustomed to it. The editor will end up being addicting after getting used to it.

PROS: A modernized text editor that I soon came to love. Its primary feature gives me the ability to make customizations with just about everything from langauge support, UI, color schemes, auto complete, keymaps, and a whole lot more. Its community is constantly making daily extensions. This makes it possible to find just about everything for enahanced productivity.

CONS: I don't have anything negative to say about this tool. As mentioned, if you want anything not supported through default, you can seek out an extension that can support all that.

PROS: Its text/function prediction is straight up fantastic. If you want to write an "if statement" you can simply key in the "if" letter and press the tab button. If you want to have your cursor in a dozen different lines for a replace, this editor can help you out. It's also capable of converting tabs that easy.

CONS: It lacks the SFTP I really wanted. It'd be nice to not have to be asked to have a local file system copy just to use this. I prefer having an FTP in the form of a file browser on the sidebar, make any file edits, save the work done, and be uploaded automatically.

PROS: It's a powerful editor with a huge collection of plugins and priced reasonably. It comes with settings that can be tuned, saved, and transfered to new systems. It comes pre-installed with code highlighting, find/replace, and autocomplete features.

CONS: Just like any other product out there with a plethora of features, it can get a bit complex at times within its GUI. I'm not even sure it's something to completely avoid. But at times, you get lost in neverending checkboxes and menus. It's one tradeoff worth considering.

PROS: I like this editor for its constant updates. Its very diverse and provides a wide range of plugins through its Command Palette. It's so speedy that I'm able to make my way through logs compared to to other editors. I depend on this from speechwriting to scripting.

CONS: I just wish some of its controls are made available wihtin the UI instead of Python. But then again, it could only be applicable to geeks that want to do further tweaks.

PROS: I love how simple it can be. The minimalist styling makes it easy to get around in. This is perfect in an environment where you do a lot of coding. Its autocomplete functionality is great. The feature formats the code for you in various languages.

CONS: After 10 saves or so, a popup will show. The popup basically asks you to upgrade for a full license. It's a bit annoying to see that happen. But the free version on its own is worth trying. Other than that, there's nothing else to complain about.

PROS: Sublime Text is very lightweight. It comes with a ton of plugins. A pre-installed command line is available so you won't have to look anywhere else. Software is stable all throughout. They're allowing you to their beta versions to explore the latest features.

CONS: I dislike a file that's using spaces as opposed to the tabs. Sublime Text makes use of spaces by default. I didn't notice this setting until now. It'd be great if you can utilize the tab settings rather than the files themselves.

PROS: I love how this editor is super lightweight. It's big when during opening, blazes its way through large files, highly customizable with its pre-installed plugins, and compatible with almost all technology. With so many tutorial and guide sources available, you can learn a lot of new things from this editor.

CONS: I dislike the fact that it's a closed source software. Also the editor hasn't had any major announcements or updates in a long while. At times, it won't have documentation for a number of configurations and things. It lacks a centralized method for seeking which plugins are deemed adequate and which ones aren't.
