PROS & CONS

What are the best aspects of this product?

The best thing about Subversion is that it allows me to work with a team while still maintaining autonomy over the aspects of a project that I am in charge of. I love how it notifies me whenever a file has been updated. This way, everyone collaborating on a project is aware of the latest version of a file. And yes, we can all work on the same file at the same time too. At the end of the day, we can simply merge our files together. And if we need to backtrack a bit, we can easily dig up the previous versions too. We've done this a couple of times and the novelty of tracking the changes and seeing how far a project has come still hasn't worn off.

What aspects are problematic or could work better?

I recommend that you try it out first. What doesn't work for me might not bother you at all. However, I would like to forewarn you that the versions of codes that are embedded in your meta-data cannot be tracked by Subversion.

What specific problems in your company were solved by this product?

I've finished a number of collaborative projects thanks to Subversion. This makes parallel updates seem like a breeze. It is intuitive and I know that I can trust it to keep track of all of our versions.
