PROS & CONS

What are the best aspects of this product?

Subversion is such a big help in keeping track of the different versions of files in our system. I think it's great how it easily stores a history of all the changes that have been done to our documents. This makes it a lot easier to test out the different versions to verify which ones work and which ones don't. This foolproofs files as well in case of accidental deletion or editing of files. It doesn't matter what type of file you handle because Subversion will track its versioning history for you.

What aspects are problematic or could work better?

For some reason, shared versions of files take up double space in our system. I've also noted multiple duplicates and subfiles under ".svn" in our folders. I also find it tiresome to regularly force binary files to commit just to get it started. Whenever we run into issues, we need to manually tag each file as to whether they have been resolved or if its resolution is still pending. To top it all off, we can't easily backtrack from bad commits. All we can do is to save a different version, resulting in more files in the system.

What specific problems in your company were solved by this product?

This has been really helpful in controlling versions within our system. It is a good repository for codes as well.
