What is TaxCloud?
TaxCloud is a free, web-hosted sales tax management and compliance solution that aims to simplify the management of internet sales. Used by online retailers and wholesalers across the US, it is equipped with a slew of tools that can calculate taxes, maintain compliance, and simplify the collection of sales tax from customers. TaxCloud also offers a tax platform that helps users automatically track sales tax rates, and product-type and use-based tax exemptions in every state. Also, the online sales tax management solution enables them to easily calculate and collect sales taxes, as well as, comply with sales tax laws.
Additionally, TaxCloud supports integration with more than 85 eCommerce platforms. PROS: It might be good for large businesses but I can't think of any reason for a small business to consider it.
CONS: As a small business, we wasted an enormous amount of time trying to implement this software. It's not until you get well into the implementation process that you discover hidden details like 1) you have to collect tax for all SSTP (Streamlined Sales Tax Project) states even if you don't come anywhere near their thresholds and 2) you'll be charged up to 8% of your revenue for the service in addition to the fees advertised. These details are hidden on a non-secure website at http://dagobah.taxcloud.net Using TaxCloud would surely put any small business out of business in a hurry.

PROS: The product appears to work fine (API calls to get tax info)
CONS: Billing is problematic and customer service is horrible...you can call and will never receive a call back (and of course no one is ever available). You can use the online customer service portal to ask a question and they don't appear to respond to that either. If there is a comparable alternative...use it!

PROS: Best aspects is it offers a free and paid version.
CONS: No customer support, and website has constant issues limiting functionality. Their support docs are for a previous version of site and are overall useless. We contacted them repeatedly by phone and email to resolve issue (site wouldn't let us add any states beyond the 'free' ones) and it took almost 10 days to receive a response. The same girl answers the phone and puts you on hold to 'contact' the tech department (and later, the manager), who are conveniently never available. We went with another company due to lack of support.
