What are the best aspects of this product?
There are so many things to love about Volusion, and on top is definitely the simplicity and intuitivity of its interface. I think it is the easiest hosting platform I've worked with, based on the concept of self-services, familiar design, and a number of precious guides and tutorials. And this is only the first impression! You'll get the real picture of how this program works once you're really in, doing branding and messaging, and making use of professional services to design your main pages and to describe your products. Let's not forget their amazing pro-service SEO team, which generates ROI forms for us, after guaranteeing ROI at the first place. We own them big time, they increased leads from 2/week to 3/day!!
What aspects are problematic or could work better?
According to me, there are 2 big problems this platform has to take care of: 1. They obviously designed a B2C cart, not a B2B one. Generally, the difference is small, but we manufacture and procure products on demand, which means we need adjustable pricing per quantity. Volusion went too far generalizing our pricing, and charged the same price per unit enabling discounts only as they were initially input, for instance gives $10 discount per 100 and per 500 pieces. The correct discount values are mentioned in a special table, but users have troubles noticing them, if not neglecting them all toghether. 2. The lack of a manager point of contract, at least for the time being. We had to sign seprate contracts for every product-SEO, Pay Per Click, and others, which was pretty time-consuming, and invoked a feeling of the product being a bit too complicated. Despite of this, I still love Volusion, it is an amazing product!
What specific problems in your company were solved by this product?
We improved our B2B consumer base with high-quality photo ID badges, which solved our historical problem of not being able to confirm identity. Besides, we're not only displaying products for sale-we are behaving as a responsible support team that guides customers around and helps them find what they need. As it is already clear, we have an insight on techincal data, and we even provide a 'We Print' service for their badges. Another benefit was to procure and manage the in-house badging process, with a separate 'You Print' line.
