XMind Review

PROS: Mind mapping is a common activity in business but it tends to get messy when so much has been added and removed to the ideas being formed on the plate. XMind fixes this with its very user-friendly mindmap managing platform which you can access in any device. It also offers different chart templates for presenting the ideas. You can also export files and convert them into different file types.

CONS: The free version sucks while the premium packages, given its limited features, don't warrant being pegged at its current price tag. In addition, loading, even in the premium version, isn't as fast as expected in any platform. There are lags when working on big, file-heavy projects.

PROS: What I like most about XMind is that we can work around it through using keyboard shortcuts entirely, helping me work faster. Other positive points are you can export files into a variety of formats, not need a supporting external app as XMind can work and operate on its own, and tick with an older version, reject upgrades and see it still work properly.

CONS: The app version needs finetuning. The same can be said with the new version for the desktop. Another thing about the new version is that users need to create a new account to use it which isn't usual for app upgrades. Both the app and new desktop versions also take up too much storage space.

PROS: XMind has great amount of customization options, I can easily take notes and create diagram of what is said during lessons, and I can decorate with notes each element of tree diagrams. It has various styles so you can easily find one that could suit your needs. I like that the product is cross platform and it can be used by 3rd part apps. I also love the export options, I can print notes and sheets as PDF without losing the consistency. There is even an option to export with index of contents in Word format and you can shape the way you want by choosing colors, dimensions, font and etc.

CONS: I have run into issue with its complexity whenever I manage large amount of sheets, then the program consumes lot of resources, and when I try to reopen a file on which I was working so many times I usually end-up with not completed task. In order to solve the issue I trouble-shut various points of the scheme but this is not ultimate solutions.

PROS: Most of the commonly used commands can be done through shortcut keys which simplifies any user's work.

CONS: Making changes on files is a tedious task as you have to make manual edits repeatedly.

PROS: With XMind we can now better understand the product flow and timelines, we have implemented the product throughout our product development processes and departments and it has changed the way we do the work internally. It meets all our needs and we have found it very useful for our business.

CONS: In my opinion, they need to redesign the UI. I can completely understand that it is designed for technical customers only but beautiful presentations are great for refreshing.

PROS: Great product for creating detailed mind map of apps, it offers various notations so we can make the mind-map more eye-catching. XMind is easy to use, and the desktop version is easy to install. This product is made for creating decision maps, SWOT analysis, Org Chart, Cause-Effect map and etc. We can even share the mind maps on the local network and it can be used by everyone.

CONS: The product is great to start with once you grow you can use other software if you wish. Comparing to Microsoft software this one has fewer options available than MS.

PROS: XMind is easy to use, and you don’t need much time to learn its keyboard shortcuts, mind-map application is easy to set up. I am even able to switch among multiple formats, create vertical and horizontal trees, fishbone diagrams, and other diagram modules. I’m using it for brainstorming and organizing my thoughts and ideas, to create outlines, work breakdown structures, org charts and etc. I can even connect this version I’m using with MS project and export to Power Point, Word and PDF documents in order to create interactive Web pages. Also, I like the presentations view because I’m able to present and walk-through a diagram to a large group or through web cast.

CONS: If you want to use your mouse then be ready for multiple clicks because you cannot easily find specific button or menu item.

PROS: By using Xmind we can better understand the timelines and product flow. We managed to implement the product through product development processes and departments. This product changed the way we do our business. I like that it has great set of tools that meet all our needs.

CONS: They could improve the interface, they could add some beautiful presentations as well.

PROS: This is perfect solution for my business needs. Its paid version has lot of exporting and project management features. It works perfectly on every platform like Linux, Mac and Windows. Also, It is so simple and intuitive that it can be used by almost everyone. We can share mind-maps with other team members, edit and moving things around.

CONS: They could offer trial period for the paid version.

PROS: Xmind is great way to organize all our concepts and ideas. There are other tools similar to this one but Xmind has one of the best features and performances. I like that the maps are highly configurable and we can easily create maps in no time. I like that there is section to add markers, notes, links, comments and images.

CONS: The collaboration with other users is weak and I believe this is because it’s not web-based solution.

PROS: I love the XMind free version because it’s perfect for my professional needs, and its paid version offers wonderful exporting and project management features. I like that the product works perfectly on every platform whether it is on Windows, Mac and Linux. The other good thing is that the product can be used by almost everyone and I can even share mind maps with my team members. There is an option for editing with keyboard and moving things around.

CONS: It would be great if they could make trial period for the paid module.
