Apple Pay Review

Apple Pay
Our score: 9.9 User satisfaction: 97%

What is Apple Pay?

Apple Pay is a cashless and cardless transaction service offered by Apple. This lets users pay for their purchases on the web, inside iOS apps, and even in-store using only contactless technology.

Although Apple Pay keeps users’ credit and debit card details and bank account information, these data are not relayed to the receiver or the merchant. This makes the transaction more secure as it is not likely to be interrupted on air by digital criminals.

With Apple Pay, businesses can offer a higher level of security and convenience to their customers. Waiting time in payment counters is reduced and buyers pay for their acquisitions with a single touch.

Overview of Apple Pay Benefits

Convenient Transactions

Apple Pay works with people’s daily Apple devices and does not require additional hardware or software. This lets them pay for their purchased products or services even within the Messages application. Or if they prefer, they can send money to their service provider by asking Siri. This contactless method is more convenient and much simpler than using cards or cash as it can be done securely anywhere, anytime.

Simple Checkouts

With Apple Pay, businesses can offer a different payment method to their customers on the web. They can do the same for their native iOS apps, too! This lets them provide a more secure option to their purchasers, as they do not need to input their credit or debit card numbers in online stores and apps to checkout their items.

Private Payments

Private individuals have to be ultra-careful with their financial details to prevent theft. With businesses, they should be more so as they would be putting their entire operations at risk. But with Apple Pay, they can transact business with other companies as well as with their customers while keeping their banking details private. On top of that, they can rest assured that records of their purchases are not kept and only relevant information for technical purposes are stored.

Apple Pay Cash Connection

Any money received by businesses from clients through Apple Pay are instantly directed to Apple Pay Cash. This makes the debited amount immediately usable for transactions online without further processing. And if they choose, users can transfer their balance to their bank accounts right away.

PROS: Love Apple Pay, it makes paying with cards more easily and a lot more accessible. I don't even have to bring my wallet with me anymore because I just use my phone to make payments. The Face ID feature is special because it lets me just look at my phone and I get to pay for the things I buy.

CONS: It would be great if the Apple Pay app could be a lot quicker and without having to press the button twice to get activated.

PROS: What they claim to do is Awesome. Apple represents this as a platform whereby you can effect payments for services in a way that is secure, simple to use and reliable. Unfortunately, none of this is true. Worse yet, while the technicians are polite and capable, if you get transferred to the banking department for help with an issue, not are they completely unresponsive, but they have zero ability to help you with anything. If you ask to escalate the issue, you will not get any satisfaction either.

CONS: None of it works. The ACH transfers can take 1 day or 5 days, they have no way of being able to tell you when the payment will reach its destination. More importantly, they can't even give you a receipt! They can see your transaction on their screen on the banking customer but are not allowed to click on the print screen button. They are also not allowed to reach out to vendors or the people you are trying to pay to assist you with the process. Imagine going to a bank to make a deposit or transfer and the bank teller telling you that they can only give you a receipt a week later. This is what apple pay does.

Ease of Use

PROS: Apple Pay is so easy-access and very convenient. Just input your mobile passcode or Face ID, and it can be used within minutes. I was able to use it even when I didn't have my credit cards were not with me. I was still able to pay using my phone. I was even able to use it in most stores because I also have my debit card registered on the app.

CONS: Of course, I can't use Apple Pay when my phone battery dies. The Face ID doesn't always work -- you need to confirm with your face after you've started the payment process, so that's a little strange. The process could use a little tweaking.

PROS: I can pay for stuff from my phone using Apple Pay. I would keep forgetting my cards, so Apple Pay helps me with purchases without needing my actual card. It's efficient and instantaneous: two clicks and Apple Pay is set up. I also like that it's secure and uses facial recognition software for personalized authorization. I also use it for work and am saved from repetitive form-filling. As long as the contactless machine is present, I can use it everywhere: train, restaurants and shopping.

CONS: I need to avoid clicking twice when I lock my phone, otherwise, Apple Pay pops up. It could be my settings. Apart from this, I'm pretty happy with Apple Pay.

PROS: I love that everything is so simple with Apple Pay. You sign up, add your card, and start your transactions without any trouble.

CONS: Perhaps it's a personal preference, but I wish I'm able to access the exact digits on my card. I get that others prefer a lot more privacy.

PROS: I like that Apple Pay makes it so easy for me to make or receive payments. It's trustworthy and very easy to use as a payment option. Moreover, Apple is already a trusted brand that takes the security of personal information to heart, so the clients are more comfortable paying using Apple Pay. It's even a very common circumstance that their credit or debit card is readily available on their Apple device, to make payment more convenient.

CONS: Not for Apple Pay, but that many establishments have not yet been set up for Apple Pay. It's not there yet as the perfect solution to shopping with just your phone and not bring your wallet or credit cards as backup.

CONS: I wish to avoid getting my payments declined on some occasions, like in a tube station or a general store. I've flagged with the tech support team, but it doesn't seem to have been resolved yet.

PROS: Apple Pay is super easy to use and install on my mobile phone. During setup, one click will help you add cards. It's straightforward and we're avoiding things like menus that are clunky. There's a seamless verification system through a bank's app instead of waiting for a long call queue. All cards in the US are compatible with Apple Pay and everyone knows the Apple brand, so it's more secure. Apple's system deal with payments using a separate virtual card number apart from the one on your card, so you don't have to worry about hacking or stolen cards.

CONS: I wish Apple Pay can convince more merchants to honor their payment system, and that the wallet app could avoid glitches in payment information.

PROS: I have to say that Apple Pay is so efficient for me. It's time-saving because I didn't have to fill out lengthy payment details every time I make a purchase, and instead I just pay securely with a touch of a button. The contactless feature is another thing I really like about Apple Pay because I'm able to use it for train and basically for anything that accepts contactless payment. It also means I don't have to carry my wallet everywhere I go. In case people lose their wallets, they can just use their phone. It's become an advantage too in terms of instant payment -- Apple Pay has become your mobile bank!

CONS: Not really about Apple Pay, but I wish more shops selling products I buy would have a contactless system that accepts payment via Apple Pay. Especially when purchasing items in person.
